update on wrecked truck

got the parts list from the autobody and so far seems mostly if not all are cosmetic in nature! about 60 hours of time to get it back together and a bunch of time for paint it seems. the retail cost of the truck is still about 29k, considering it is an 04 and has 12k miles, and i only paid 28,500.00 for it out the door last year! well below the 50% cost to fix it based on that. was told if it was close, they would find something to push it over the limit at that point. looks like i will be getting back the truck in 3 weeks or so....!

Takes a lot to total vehicles nowadays, especially newer ones. I figured it'd take a big supplement with some severe frame damage to come close to a figure to total it out.

Not exactly true...it depends on the vehicle. I was at a local body shop a few weeks back. They had a $25,000 2005 Nissan Murano sitting out back. It looked slightly damaged, so I asked about it. They said it was totalled and they were waiting on the insurance company to come and pick it up. It looked like it could have been driven off the lot as is. He said that it had extensive "frame" damage, which baffled me because I didn't think that they had a true frame. Anyway, it all depends on the vehicle.

This is true. IME, one sure fire way to see a vehicle totalled is flood damage. You're right though, it depends a lot on the vehicle...and the insurance company.

Like i have mentioned before, they installed a new frame on my truck, among alot of other things, and the insurance would not even consider totalling it out.
