Static Shock

Everytime I get out of my truck, I get a static shock when I go to close the door. Does anyone know of a way to eliminate this from happening?

When you are getting out, reach up and grab the rubber seal on the top of the door frame and hold onto it while you step on the ground.

Do you have cloth seats? I used to have this problem with my 95 T-Bird. I found that Static guard helps, or that spray type fabric softener also works.

My KR did the same thing when it was new, you have to condition the leather or it will go away once the newness wears off the leather.

Wipe down your seat and door panel with a dryer sheet. Problem solved. This may need to be repeated a couple times per year, or whenever the problem reoccurs.

I prefer to rub the dryer sheet on myself every morning. It eliminates the headache of going to the truck and it really starts the day off right!

Add some of those static strips that hang down off the rear bumper like back in the 70's. Check around you can prob get a combo deal with some chrome curb feelers. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

It is exactly that. I've noticed that the dry fall air is making it much worse than before (and we're always dry up here in the mountains). My 7-year old duaghter even complained at me yesterday that she could feel the static everywhere. When I put my arms on that leather center console, all of the hair on my arms went straight out. I'm hoping it'll pass as we move into winter, but I'm not so sure.

Don't count on it...low temps and low humidity = high static electricity.

I've been having the same problem - noticed it's also dependent upon what SHOES I wear. With my cheapo costco tennis shoes, the shock is fierce. With my lands-end all-weather mocs, no zap. Must be better insulation.

On the ground-strap issue - I still see these on cars and trucks from time to time. I heard they help reduce radio static also. Snake oil or worth trying? If the former, where would one buy them, JC Whipme?

Too bad Ford doesn't give you the option to buy the entire cow (herd?) along with your KR. That'd make for a great "check out my new truck" barbeque.
