Magnaflow SISO vibrates the floor?

I'm THIS close to putting the stock exhaust back on. The Maggie is much louder that you would think after reading so many opinions here. TOO loud for just putting around town. The screaming at the end of 2nd gear may be more than I can bear. Yesteray I took it out on the interstate for the first time, and the floor vibrates! Has anyone else experienced this? Sound is a matter of taste, I understand that, but this just seems wrong.

I think either you installed it wrong or you are makeing the story up to get a rise out of us magnaflow owners. I would say magnaflow is only about 10 to 20 percent louder than stock. It is one of the quieter performance exhausts out.

I have an 05 f150 4x4 and I installed the SI/DO rear exit magnaflow kit about a month ago and I too am not sure I am going to keep it. Maybe I somehow installed it wrong and messed something up but it sounds almost like a racecar while accelerating towards the end of each shift and that is without even flooring it. Maybe all exhausts sound that way but for some reason, my setup just seems like its too high pitched sounding, its like its screaming and not the low, deep sound, and this is under normal acceleration and shifting around 2500-3k rpm. I have put around 1500 miles on it since installation with no change in its tone. I think I am going to take it to an exhaust shop just to make sure they think everything is the way it's supposed to be.

The maggie is much louder than stock, but still quieter than other uber abnoxious exhausts... as for your floor vibrating and unbearable noise, me thinks you got a serious exhaust leak. Check and triple check your install.

You and I are on same page.

I don't really know how you can put it on wrong, it only fits together one way. I don't like the clamps though, I will say that. I'm not too confident that I don't have leaks. I decided to order some nice SS band clamps that will actually seal to the pipes and not simply crush them together. 2 week backorder though. If that doesn't help, the pontoon is going back on.

You guys keep us updated on this. I'm swaying between SIDO and SISO or neither as of now. I was sold before on SIDO because I like the look a lot better than SISO but I might get swayed to staying stock until I hear this in person.

How about a Magnaflow resonator or whatever there called? Would that quiet it down without killing performance? Course, doesn't sound like the maggie does a lot for performance, just keeps it from getting worse.

If you take it off, I'll buy it and gladly have a rumbling floor.

For those reading this thread,
ATTENTION, MagnaFlow is a BRAND not a muffler.
Some of the MagnaFlows are louder than others.
I had an 18'' on my truck and it was very loud.
Great for a hotrod, but not good on something an adult would let his wife drive.

The 24 inch, also straight through, is much more civilized, while still being loud when you nail it.

So if you are not posting the model number, or size, you are not giving enough information to any reader to determine the facts or usefulness of the product.

I believe his signature says "Magnaflow SISO 16612." Wouldn't that be enough to identify which muffler he has? And my wife NEVER gets to drive my truck. That's why I am going to buy her a Fusion when they come out. Well, lease it anyway.

My magnaflow is the 16614 SI/DO cat-back kit. I am taking mine into an exhaust shop this weekend to have it inspected. During lunch today, I went out and started it up and crawled underneath to feel for any exhaust leaks, and sure enough, I can feel some air coming out from the bracket that connects the inlet pipe to the muffer. I tried repositioning the clamp and tightening it as much as I could but I could still feel a small amout of air coming out of it. I wonder if this tiny leak could cause the tone of my exhaust to be higher than if it was sealed properly? I will find out this weekend I guess.

I installed a SI/DO when I got my truck last year. The Noise was unbearable. I did some research on magaflow's wed site and found out that the muffler shop put in the wrong muffler. I purchased the right muffler a month later and the noise was gone. I wasted a $150.00 bucks, but I am extremely happy now. My suggestion is find out what muffler series number was installed and swap it out.
GOOD LUCK

Which was the wrong muffler and which was the right muffler? Part numbers?

I would have just taken it back and have them put the right one on. In fact, I did.

But in my case, the Mag had just come out, and neither the shop or I had any knowledge of how it would sound on these trucks.

They wrote down my remarks on the sound on these trucks and have shown them to other buyers to help them make the decision.
They are a good shop.
Stopped by there a couple months ago for something else and the boss told me they sold more of the short/loud ones, based on my description.

By the way, the kit numbers don't always tell you the muffler. They should, but they don't, as shops, vendors, etc. can swap them around.
