Yeah, or he's making it up. Anyhow, I agree with dzervit. An exhaust leak can be very loud, in turn causing substantial vibration. Good luck, and keep us posted.

rta108,
For what it's worth, I bought a M/F SISO w/ 18" muffler from Troyer and had it installed by an exhaust shop. From the outset it had noticeable drone and slight floor vibe between 1800 and 2100 rpm. Shop rechecked clamps, etc and all was tight. Troyer graciously sold me a 24" muffler at cost to see if that would alleviate the problem. It reduced the noise somewhat but not well enough. Exhaust shop tried hanging weights on it but that wasn't effective. Next step was going to be a resonator installed inline ahead of the muffler. Truck was totalled in an accident before resonator could be installed. Learned on this forum of others with similar problem but it seems to be an isolated one. Sorry I can't offer a fix but at least some possible solutions and context.

i found that when installing my magnaflow bolt up i moved the clamps all the way to the edge of the "split" outer pipe, and on some let it over hang 1/4" i found that they get much tighter this way, because when i left 1/4" of the "split" outer pipe showing, i could not get it tight for the life of me.

Is there a difference in performance between muffler size (18 and 24)? Also what does a resonator do to performance, does it turn it back to stock or worse probably?

I have the SI/SO 16612 also.....

I think i am getting floor vibration also. I think I have cabin drone too. I'll take it to Midas or something to have them check it out. I put it on myself and it went on pretty easy. Hopefully it has a leak or 2 and they can fix it. Otherwise, I think the stock muffler is going back on

Question though... if it has leaks they will ne noticable by black exhaust dust right? I have had mine on a little over a month..... But haven't crawled up underneath it to check since.....

I reported on another thread of install problems and noise. I think the clamps do a poor job. The rear tail pipe piece is impossible to tighten enough to prevent movement. I ended up welding mine. The clamps at either end of my 24" muffler do not leak, but if I grab the muffler ( when its cool!) I can rotate it slightly. So I'll probably end up welding those also.
I haven't had any floor vibration, but do feel the sound is more than I had hoped for. I carefully studied these forums before buying, and felt that Magnaflow was the way to go. Sound is soooooo subjective, afterall. For me, cruising down the highway at 75mph, is a time I don't want to hear the steady drone of the exhaust!! I love it at startup and accelerating around town. So be warned before buying!! I will say Magnaflow may have a good product, but their tech support is terrible!

Are the clamps on a Borla better than those on the Magnaflow?

One thing to check is that all the exhaust hangers used are the rubber hangers. Muffler shop was going to bolt exhaust to frame in some places when the right tail pipe did not exit perfectly straight but I was concerned with getting a vibe, I insisted in heating and bending the pipe 'very slightly' rather than do this. ( these guys wanted the tail pipes to be perfectly centered with the trailer hitch. ) They were reluctant to do anything with the stainless pipes but heated it on an inside bend and we did it.

I have the Borla catback SIDO system and I can feel a very slight vibe in the gas pedal that changes pitch if I change the pedal pressure. This is only at acceleration. Highway cruising it is totally smooth and quite. ( maybe because my 05 came with a frame vibe dampener, I bought it with only 8 miles on the odo and service history was clear )

I have a slight vibration too when I get on it...it's do to a 5.4L V8 with headers and MagnaFlow SISO...feels...kind of like a truck, ya know, how it should be. Haha

If you take it off, I'll buy it and gladly have a rumbling floor.
Stay tuned.

I would have to agree. I mean come on people these are trucks and should ride, run, look, feel and sound like a truck. IMHO

I just ordered the 16612 so I hope not to see any problems. I will post in the exhaust forum once I install it this weekend. From the feedback I did not see to many bad dealings with the systems like this one.

I'm going to see what I can find out about the magnaflow resonator. Anyone with knowledge on it pitch in if you'd like.

I had the floor vibration issue with the flowmaster it was welded to the frame.
I switched to Magnaflow they welded all the connections and metal mounting posts that where attached to rubber bushing that where bolted to the frame.

The sound is nothing close to the Flowmaster, although it did get loader after about 6 months but not annoying at all. All highway drone is non existant other than the AF1 above 2,000 RPM..

I have ZERO vibration now. The mounting kits are quite common in muffler shops and shouldnt be hard to find.

So you can't hear your SIDO going down the highway at 75mph at all?
