Totally Disgusted with my 05

Ok so I had a 2005 SuperCab 2WD that was a good truck but I needed 4 WD so I bought a 05 KR. The first thing to go was the AC, it works intermittently, sometimes it blows at 48 degrees and sometimes it won't break 65 degrees. Been in three times for that and only freon was added the first time and a new EATC control the second time.

Then there is that damn vibration. At first when I read about it here I thought people were getting a little dramatic about it. But it is annoying as hell, I have it at 42-45mph and again at 72mph. Dealer can not dupicate. Road force balance made it worse.

Now the latest is that the drivers side memory power seat puts itself at setting number one every time I use the keyless fob to lock the truck. I get back in and it's on my girlfriends setting and I nearly rack myself getting into the truck. I put it on mem two and it will stay there until I get out and lock the truck then it moves back to mem 1.

The power passenger side seat stopped working, new switch installed. Tilt lever fell off, new one put on, crap design anyway.

Now I have what feels like warped rotors and a strange banging sound/feeling from the rearend when I go around sharp corners. It feels like I get rear ended but nothing's there. I have also noticed some tranny slippage when it goes in to OD at times. Like a bump bump bump.

What really sucks about it is, I really like the truck alot. The looks, the seats, stereo, room, power, etc. is all pretty good but the thing has begun to self destruct after two months of no problems, the last three months have been a new problem every 2-3 weeks.

The good part is when the dealer keeps it for a week to ten days at a time to fix it, I drive my 05 Mustang GT which has only had the bolt come out of the shifter, no other problems.

I think my KR was built on a Friday before a holiday weekend.

Use the other key fob to lock the truck and see if it works correctly with it I think that the key fobs are diffrent and are for driver 1 and driver 2, road force balancing will only help in some cases if the road force readings are still out of spec after match mounting, the tire(s) should be adajusted under warranty, see if they will tell you the road force readings if your tire size starts with P road force should be less than 25 lb. if your tire size starts with LT road force should be less than 45 lb.

Yep the keyfobs match setting 1 and 2.

Sorry about the rest of the problems...I love the 05 Stang...I want one bad but I'd have to trade my 92 in. It isnt special but it was my first car and I still love it.

Good luck with the KR...

Seacrow the key fobs can be programmed for each memory setting. Take the one you use everyday and sit in truck, hit the set button on seat and while light is on hold down the unlock button on your remote. This programs that remote to your seat setting..# one or two. Do the same with the other remote and second memory seat setting for the little lady.

Sounds like your limited slip is binding a bit. Some have reported that they did not have the correct amount of fluid and friction modifier from factory. That should be a fairly easy fix if you take it in as it is a rather well known issue by now. Good luck, and keep us posted.

There was a short period of time i felt the same as you, i have taken my truck in for a few of the items your talking about (rotors, rear end) and they fixed me right up, no more issues with mine. I attribute alot of the problems to my build date. Just take it in and list the items, even though it is sort of a pain to take the time to do that...its all good in the end.

You had a 2005 Scab, traded for a 05 KR, and drive an 05 Stang while the KR is in the shop. It doesn't sound like money is an issue for you, so why go through any more frustration with the KR? Trade it in and get another, or an FX4 since you want 4WD.

It sounds like you got the lemon of the month from the factory (there has to be at least one, right? ). I love my KR, no problems except the "vibe" that was cured by balancing several months ago. Wish you luck!

True statement....let my wife drive my previous 01' F-150 Scab, that cost me $ 7000.00 after she hit one of those cement filled posts in a parking lot.

Serious bummer to even hear about - let alone live! My KR came from the factory with a small interior water leak in the passenger's side A-pillar. I was able to fix it myself with less than $.01 worth of outdoor caulking after the dealer threatened to "fix" my third brake light (even after I told them I had already tested for a leak there). Other than that, coming up on about 2 months of ownership and 1300 miles (I'm out of town a lot - keeps the miles low), no problems. But it would seem that most problems surface a little bit later in terms of time and miles, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and keeping up on other's experiences so I know what battles to fight and how to fight them if I ever have to.

And I think I'm going back and buying that ESP Premium...

How fast was she driving in the parking lot? What damage did she do?

Ok guys after a little more investigation, my girlfriend was going to the truck at night to remove items she needed and used her remote. I guess that is when the seat moves in to "rack em" position. That mystery is solved.

I really don't want ot lemon law the truck. I use it for my trips to the cabin in GA. and for towing my big trailer. I have a 97 Nissan truck for a daily driver. The 05 Stang is just a toy. My girlfriend drives the KR to haul her baby around. I think this truck will last me 10 years or more the way it gets used.

I guess I reason that with all of the technology we have today, it's amazing to have vibration problems or AC problems with any vehicle. I suppose that the AC is a bad design along with the tilt wheel. Two things I really liked about the last generation F-150. Then the 05 Mustang continues to impress me with it's build quality and smoothness. The engine runs great in that car. Ford needs to pull that Korean engineer guy off of the Mustang and put him on the F-150 for a while.
