About that keypad...

Does anyone ever use thiers? I dont, I dont even know the code for it. I guess I should dig it up in case I ever lock myself out.

I had one on a Lincoln, owned the car for 3 years and never used it once.

I use mine all the time. It's nice in case I need to get something out of my truck and don't have the keys in my pocket.
I also like to lock the keys in my truck so I don't have to carry them when I go to class, the gym, a club...
VERY handy.

We use ours all the time:

1. To warm up the truck on cold mornings (lock the truck with the keys in it)

2. At the races, we can lock the truck and both get in it anytime without having to each have a set of keys.

Honestly I'm surprised at how much we use it now. When we originally bought the truck, I wouldn't have paid extra for it. But now.....we might.

I use mine during the winter in the mornings like Mitch does, warm it up, lock the doors. I also use it whenever I go jogging or to the range, so I don't risk losing my keys or any other personal valuables while in the field.

Just recently added it to my truck, as a defense against locked keys, and so we don't have to carry keys at the beach. Very handy. If I want to unlock the tailgate, or passenger door without going into the house for keys, it's right there.

How can you lock the doors when the keys are in the ignition? Mine wont let me do it unless i come from the passenger side. Unless thats how you do it as well.

Shut your door and press the 7-6 8-9 button at the same time and the doors lock...even with the key in the ignition.

I use my door pad all the time. Its a lot easier to just leave the keys in the ignition and get out. And dont say somebody might steal it...hell I hope they do! lol

Ditto... All the above.

If you don't have factory door handle keypad, but have keyless entry FOB,
I highly recommend the inexpensive add-on keypad black stick-on model:
(Note: Only for vehicles equipped with Factory Remote Keyless Entry)

I mounted mine on the forward bed, passenger side, just under the bevel, easy reach.
(every time I need something it's on the passengers side!)
Mounted it right over the line-x bed coating, no one knows it's there.
Always bury cargo up against it, no problems.
Uses massive Mastik lifetime stick-on tape, indestructable, battery good for 100,000 entrys.
Open one door, all doors, or lock it up.

Easy install from manual, Ford part, very cheap on eBay:

Check the classifieds. I'm selling my Lariat handles and that set has the key pad with it.

Nope! That would be the 7-8 and 9-0 keys. It's universal for all Ford, Lincoln, or Mercury vehicles.

Wrote a whole thing on adding it to non factory keyless trucks. Contact me by e-mail and I can give you the info.

For those with factory keyless, the stick on pad is nice.
I bought one after I put the Ford Deluxe alarm and keyless in my truck, but they are not compatable with anything but the factory unit.
If anyone want's a good deal on a brand new, never used keyless stick on pad, contact me...

Chris

I have power adjust pedals in my 02, talk about a waste. It's nice for the ooh's and ahh's but if it wasn't there I wouldn't notice.
