22.5+mpg: What's you best?
I got an average of 22.5+ mpg on a tank of gas driving mostly on the highway at around 55-65mph carrying a refrigerator and other stuff on half the trip. Also the same MPG on another highway trip. Both trips included a stop for a few days, so it had a cold start which eats some fuel. The trip odometer hit 525 miles on the standard size fuel tank, yet the low fuel warning didn't go off. The truck is a 05' 2wd, long bed, reg cab, 4.6 auto with 3.55 rear gears with about 11K miles.
I wonder how high the MPG would be if there was no stop, straight driving at 55mph on near level roads? Anyone getting better than 22.5? |
Personal best is 19.1 mpg all highway through NC/SC flatlands driving 55-75mph. This is a 4x4 Screw 5.4 3.73 gears and 18" tires/wheels loaded with luggage and 2 passengers. oh, and with Airaid intake and Magnaflow catback if that really matters...

I've never seen over 12 mpg.

I've averaged a best of approx. 21 mpg on a highway cruise at 55-60 mph going to and from work. 4x2 Supercab, 5.4, 3.55 limited slip rear.

On a pure hwy trip I got around 18 on my truck when it was bone stock. Best around town is 14. First tank of gas with headers and X2, I got just over 14 around town and expecting it to go up more considering I was playing with it like a new toy :)

My best is 19.6 on a 300 mile all highway trip going 65-75 mph. 4x4 SCrew with5.4 and 3.73 carrying 3 adults and 2 kids. Only mod is a K&N drop-in filter, and the engine wasn't even broken in yet. I drove like a granny though. :p

First tank was 14 mpg. That included ~300 km trip with 30 bales of hay on the return leg (120 kph there and 80-90 kph back). '05 SCrew 4x4. The current tank is mostly around town and driving like a granny...guess we'll see.

I was really happy with my '01 4.6l w/5 speed manual that got between 16 and 20. I just got back from a 500mi round trip in my new '05 and averaged 17.5. That's with an open bed hauling a piano. Can't wait to see the mileage when I add a canopy. That added 1 to 2 mpg on my '01. I'm averaging 16-17 in my daily commute - 1/2 city, 1/2 highway. Yeah, I guess I drive like a granny... |

Like I said before, I drive it like I stole it, no babying here. Also I am always in stop and go traffic, I think I was 13 the last time I had seen open Highways here in Miami.... I am realing being sarcastic. |
