I had a 99 F150 5.4 always used synthetic oils mostly Mobil 1 in the 102,000 miles put on it the Mobil 1 always used 1/2-3/4 quart between changes at 5000 miles intervals. I have a 2004 now and planning on running motorcraft from now on.

its normal, dont be concerned, the LOW mark on the stick means you need one quart, so if your halfway between thats 1/2 a quart, not too bad actually for close to 4000 miles

Can’t say about Mobil-1 but Motorcraft 5W 20 stays the same on the dipstick at 3K interval changes; in fact it looks clean enough to go a couple K more

I usually change my Mobil 1 at 3k or less. Actually dont pay attention to whether it burns any or not.

I use Mobil 1 in both my trucks, it has never burned any oil. I change every 3k and it is always at the top mark on the dip stick.

I wouldn't be too conerned, just keep an eye on it and make sure you don't have a leak. Check where you park and make sure there aren't oil stains.

There is mucho oil info at http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/

IMO it is hard to beat Motorcraft 5w20 with FL820S Filter.

I put 188,000 miles on my 2001 F150 4X4 SuperCrew using Mobil 1.
Changed the oil every 5,000 miles and never lost or burned off any oil.

Check for leaks and/or tighten your oil filter.
