Vibe and Rear end noise

Hi Guys,
Just had my 04 Screw at the dealer for the vibration and rear end clunk. Dealer told me that they have to order a "clutch pack" for the rear and it is basically rebuilding the rear. Only 9800 miles on the truck and it is an 04. In regards to the slight vibe I have at about 55-60mph, they told me that they have to cut the rear brake drums because the emergency brake is getting "hung" up. Don;t know if I believe them on that one. Also, aasked about the re-flash, they said they can only do that with the diesels. Ha, Ha!!
Anyways, just wanted your thoughts on these issues. THAnks

Can only flash a Diesel??!!

Get the hell out of there and go to a different dealer before they rip the rear apart. I would'nt let them touch my truck after that comment.

Have they tried greasing the slip yoke? I had a clunk on takeoff and greasing it fixed it for me. Still no clunk several thousand miles later.

I never had the clunk on my '04, but had the rear end shudder at takeoff if that's what you're talking about as a "vibration." Dealer told me they had tried clutch packs and everything else everyone on here talks about and that nothing truly fixes it yet, so they didn't do anything to it. They said ford does not have a true fix for it right now. At least they didn't screw it up. I haven't received a customer survey yet, and if I don't, I plan on calling ford soon to talk to them about the problems w/ my truck and why it is not fixed.

I had the clutch pack problem and it is not a clunk. It is a shudder at takeoff when you are turning. A clunk would be something else. I suspect it may be the slip yoke. Since the clutch packs are a known problem, they may be planning on greasing the slip yokes and charging the clutch pack replacement to Ford whether they do it or not. Ford does have a fix for the clutch pack problem because they finally fixed mine. The first clutch pack didn't do it so they replaced everything in the rear end which fixed the clutch pack but left a whine. The "repair kit" fix was backordered and they changed it twice and apparently the supplier before the dealer finally recieved it. The also sent the mechanic back to school and he was "retrained" before it was done the 2nd time. Now it is quiet and smooth.

Yes, he claims the rear rotor is the cause of the emerg. brake freezing up and that is casung the vibration. Funny thing is, the vibration is only when the gas pedal is down traveling about 60 mph. I think he is crazy but what do I know. Glad this truck is a lease because I think it is going back!
