Ceramic Brake Pads Installed

Got tired of washing the wheels all the time so I installed PRO STOP Ceramic pads by Satisfied. I installed them on my wifes Escape 2 years ago (because of the brake dust problem) and they have been excellent. I bought them at Checker Auto (Kragen,Schucks) for $49.95. Took about 15 min for each of the front hubs. The factory pads where hardly worn (8000 miles). Noticed the the factory pads didn't have the slot in the middle of the pad for the brake gases. The pro stop does!
Part # is PR1011-C

I've got almost 900 miles on my 05 and that's about 850 too many with the OEM pads. Flat out ridiculous trying to keep these wheels clean. Getting ceramics is next on the to-do list.

Agreed.. by 1000 miles, I had cleaned my rims 4 or 5 times.

What really helps cleaning is the new Mr Clean rim sponges.. takes a few seconds to clean each wheel. I picked these up at Auto Zone for the interim until I get a chance to go back and pick up some ceramic pads..

I just put them on last night but I do expect they will do well. I have them on my wifes' Ford escape and they do very well. Will do an update in about a week and let you know!

Has anyone had any bad experiences with any after market ceramic pads. I might try the Rabestos ceramic pads.

I installed the ones from Advance Auto (Friction Master I think) all the way around about 2 weeks ago. After over 1000 miles, there's nothing noticable as far as dust. A finger test yields a very light dust, but that may just be road grime.

As far as performance - I'm pretty happy with the feel. Can't say for sure if there has been a huge improvment in braking, but there has not been any decline. I would swear that it seems to not take as much pedal to stop, but this may just be my imagination.

So far, I'm very pleased with the switch.

E...

Sorry fellas. Talked to the dealer today and heard the funniest thing ever!!!! They said Ford understands there brake pads give off an excessive amount of brake dust. However, around 16,000 miles you should notice a significant decrease in the amount of brake dust!!!!!

So wait a year and it should be ok...just make sure you haven't cleaned them during that year, because they're just hoping you won't notice the brake dust is still the same because your wheels are jet black.

Just thought I'd share....

I went browsing the Advance Auto website and saw this:
Satisfied PR1083C
Pro Series Ceramic Brake Pad: Front; With Optional Front Pads $65.99.

Anyone have a clue what the Optional Front Pads are? Some boxes are empty, some have pads in them as an option? Perhaps the Fred Flintstone foot pads? I guess they could be an extra set of reg organic pads? Maybe replacement shims? The heck with it, I just want ceramics and shiny wheels.
