2 other reasons to buy the 6.5 foot SCREW... Which I do now laready with a SCAB

1) I can't park in my garage anyway... wifes car and kids bikes...toys... etc

2) Get more exercise when you have to park at a store way out far and have to walk the extra mile.

I do this already....nothing pisses me off more than those parking lot lurkers.....99.99999% of the time they are exactly the type of people that SHOULD be walking that extra few hundred feet......

My goal in finding a truck was the shortest (in length) fullsize with good interior space. For me, the bed is for putting things which are too dirty to put inside an SUV like gas-powered toys, car parts, etc.

I decided on a Lariat Supercab with 5.5ft bed, but that truck was nearly impossible to find. I *settled* for a KR supercrew 5.5ft bed, which is great. At 224 inches total length, it's a few inches shorter than a Supercab 6.5ft bed, but longer than a Supercab 5.5ft bed. Just for comparison, a Suburban/YukonXL is 219 inches. Any way you cut it, these are long trucks.

For you guys who want enormous beds on crew cab trucks: take a look at 250s and 350s.

Just give me the 35.7 gas tank on the Super Crew and I will be happy.

5.5 all the way, as many have mentioned, I have to garage the truck and the 12" longer wheelbase would be a major PITA in parking lots. to Nico and Vader, I much prefer the shorter doors on the screw, much easier to get in and out in tight quarters than the too long doors of the SCAB.

I'm with you on the doors. When I bought the truck I didn't really pay much attention to the front door length. I did notice it the first time I parked the truck in the parking garage at work. I could actually open my front doors wide enough to get in and out easily without slamming them into someone else's ride. Wouldn't have it any other way now.

I bought the supercab for the 6.5' bed, I wanted the extra bed space. If the crewcab was offered with the 6.5' I would of taken that route and got both more interior and bed space. I will wait and see the new model then make a decision to trade or not.

I'm with you on this.

Why can't they put a 50 gallon tank under there?

Or two 30's?

I hate stopping for gas!

My original thought when the first supercrew came out was...what idiot thought to design such a beautiful truck with such a short bed. I always thought the general public would want the cab space and the bed space. I think GM did it right with the sierra 1500.

With that said, I fell in love with the looks of the screw. I bought an 02 which functioned very well as my family car. Although that truck was the biggest piece of s**t, I still loved it. Now I am on #2, an 05 screw. I love this truck too, however, it will turn into the piece of s**t the 02 was. Ford needs to learn how to put attention to detail into their products. They need to focus on their quality. The supercrew is a great truck, they just need to build it better.

Regarding bed length, there was not anything that I hauled that didn't fit into the bed.

I almost held out for the 06 with the longer bed, but I got a great deal on the 05.

My two cents!

Regards!

You have to be the first to "settle" for a KR

If I stay with 150 Screws, a 6-1/2 footer will replace it in spring. Just the added convenience of more cargo space and a little more length to haul longer items will be handy. That extra foot means nothing in the parking lot or the garage to me.

I can see the "garage issue", though, as I remember getting my 1994 Eddie Bauer Supercab with an 8 foot box home only to find it was three inches too long to fit in the garage. The dealer had installed an aftermarket step bumper, and it was not supposed to be on it when I bought it unseen over the phone from 350 miles away. Totally unexpected. Anyway, the Skilsaw worked wonders on notching out the wall studs.

I'm afraid the 6-1'2 foot bed will be a waste to the practical owner, though. Yes, the cargo area just increased, but at least in a 6-3/4 foot bed, you can put eight foot 2X4's in diagonally and still close the tailgate. Very helpful to us guys with lids or toppers that want to still close the lid and tailgate to protect our tools while we run into another store? I guess it won't happen with the new longbed 6-1/2 foot Screw. Maybe I just changed my mind.

By the way, unless you are hauling something that won't slip between the tubes, what good is the bed extender? Just asking, since it won't be available with the 6-1/2 footer?

5.5 ft. all the way. For me, if you get much longer than that, it is no longer practical for driving / parking in a city. The 5.5ft SCREW is the best of all worlds in my opinion.

The great thing is ... I don't live in the city... i live in the country.

I wouldn't own a f150 if I lived in a city..... I'd own a Mustang

I personaly think that the KR is disgustingly ugly.......i HATE those ugly seats.....i HATE the color schemes of the truck....and i HATE the badging on them.....however i would TEMPORARILY "settle" for one if it was the last 150 on the lot.......im sure the resale value couldnt go down that much on that pile for me to go get an FX4......dont get me wrong...nice trucks...if your a hill billy or a cow boy......just a little goofy for my taste......and as or the 6.5 bed......2 things that would keep me from getting one: Wheel Base too long for offroad, and truck would be even harder for the motor to lug around.....i think ford should atleast make this a 5.4 exclusive option.
