Out of warranty

I've got around 36,200 miles on my truck nown (Since March 2004). So bye bye warranty (unless they allow you to still get warranty repairs if you're just slightly over the limit. I hope I don't end up with any expenses repairs anytime soon! So far, so good though. The most expensive thing I've had done under warranty that I couldn't do myself was the clutch pack replacement in the rear end.

Let's see, if I remember right, this is the list of repairs I've had done while it was under warranty. Not too bad I think...
- clutch pack replaced (binding up on sharp turns)
- outside temp sensor replaced (indicated wrong temp)
- plastic cowl replaced (popped apart in center and wouldn't snap back together)
- center caps on wheels replaced (plastic coated was peeling off)
- butyl pad removed - Notice sent out by Ford on this.
- pcm update (still no better in my opinion - need tuner
- third brake light replaced (leaked water into cab)

I think that's it. Only thing I'm unhappy with right now is the throttle response and slugish feel overall. My wife's new Grand Prix has an electronic throttle (no cable) and it's response is instant when you stomp on it. I really need to get a tuner. Just wish Ford would have done it right at the factory. I'm sure this engine can respond much quicker than it does.

Hey, me too!

I must add that I am happy with my throttly response, I know at first there was a delay when I hit the accelerator, but know its unnoticable. Hope you don't have any trouble now that your warranty is up. Good luck.

Sure, I could extend the warranty...but my luck has been that I don't have any major problems with my cars and I do a lot of the work myself anyway. It could end up being a waste of money. Or it could save me thousands...LOL I guess sometimes you just have to take a chance. Yhe only warranty issue I had that I couldn't have easily done myself would be the clutch pack.
