20's=the vibe is back!
 

I had the vibe when I initially purchased my f-150-04'. The problem was fixed with several tire changes as well as dampening kit as well as new rack and pinion. I decided to purchase some new tires and wheels after my I ran over several drywall nails on my factory tires. My new wheels are 20" ADR's and the tires are 285x55x20 BFG All-terrain KO. The tires where slightly used. The were balanced by a local tire shop. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? The wheels and tires look so sweet, I hope I can keep the combo.

Get them rebalanced. They probably messed up.

Have them road force balanced with a Hunter 9700 balancing machine. If you go to Hunter's website, you can type in your location and it will give you a list of shops in your area with their machine.

Make sure there on tight. I had a bad vib at 50 and 75 mph when I got my 22's. Torqed down the lugs and the vib was gone.

Ditto King Vinnie's suggestion. I noticed on my work order that teh tire shop had teh torqu specs at 100 lbs, not 150.

It's the tires 75-80 on the Hunter 9700. WTF, I thought BFG were supposed to be good tires?

I had the same problem with my nitto terra grapplers in 305/50/20. I had them swap out the tires with new ones, because they only had about 3000 miles on them and they never would balance up. I must have paid $400 trying to get someone to balance them worth a crap every couple weeks. After getting the newer tires, it rides perfectly smooth. I guess I just got a set of tires from a bad run. One of my coworkers has a friend that works for bfgoodrich, and he said that 1 out of every 4 tires that comes out of their molds is not round, but they sell them anyway. I guess with that big of a circumfrance on a tire, if they are just slightly out of round you get a big vibration. My tires alone weigh 50 lbs each. Thats 50 lbs of weight slamming down against the road every revolution when they are not perfectly round. That's a huge vibration.

BFG is sending new tires under waranty due to the high road force, will have them installed tomorrow afternoon.

I have had my 20s for about 9 months and had to switch back to my stockers to get rid of a vibe.

What would that website be?

What kind of tires did you have as well as size? Did you ever have them road force balanced by the Hinter 9700?

I have michelin ltx-ms 275-60-20. Just regular balance no road force. However I wonder if I do have them road force balanced and they show to be bad if michelin will replace them?

The BFG's that I bought are actually made by Michelin, and when American Tire in Bardstown told Michelin that they failed the road force (should be lower than 39 of force), Michelin stated that they would cover full replacement.

Thanks for the information. I just took the tires back off and was not going to pay out another 800.00 to replace them just yet. But if they will replace them if they are bad....that sounds good to me. :rocker:
