Simple as P.I.E.!

I'm asking if anyone has managed to talk to the PIE folks about certain head units only displaying AUX rather than PIE AUX or AUX PIE (whatever it is) and then having the option to bump up to CRYSTAL LINE...
Have any of the 'plain ole AUX' guys contacted Cherry PIE about why this would occur on certain head units and not on others...?

hmmm....I just installed my PIE interface and nothing! It absolutely doesn't work. When I first installed it made a whistling/humming sound for about 20 seconds and then it died. When pushing the AUX button the radio reads NO Aux Device Connected.
I wired it up to the ground and to the12+ lead of the cigarette lighter plug. I also tried connecting the PIE power leads directly to a hot power source off of the fuse box...still nuttin'. Also I can't disconnect the interface cable from the back of the radio its really stuck. I know its connected correctly because the stereo works with it connected.
Has anyone else had any problems like this?

UPDATE!
Just got off the phone with one of the Techs over at PIE. Here is what he said about the AUX/PIE/CRYSTAL issues that RP and I and others are having.
Basically every head unit reacts differently to the adapter, even units that have the same features (audiophile, 6cd, cd/tape, etc...), may react differently because the build dates have slight changes in the chipsets for the CAN-BUSS. He said (and I haven't tried it yet) that if you are having the issue that I am (display says AUX or NO CD/DVD rather than PIE or CRYSTAL-LINE) that you can try to hit the SEEK button on the HeadUnit to get the display to cycle through the options... HOWEVER, there will be no difference between the AUX and PIE settings, and CRYSTAL-LINE may or may not work depending on the head unit.
Bottom line. If the aux input works on your Headunit (you can hookup a source and hear good sound), then you've installed it properly, and have nothing to worry about.
Good to know... should have called right away, nice guys.

You da' man Dave. Thanks for checking in on that for us!
I definitely love the sound of my XM now that I have installed the PIE but, this 'Crystal Line' thing still intrigues me (simply because I don't have it I guess... LOL!)

Thanks for the kind words RP. I tried the "seek" buttons and even the menu (next to the CD slot) buttons on my Headunit (CD/Tape) and didn't get anything other than AUX. Oh well. It's still working fine, and sooo nice to get decent sound from my iPod and Sirius... I'd be interested to hear if the "seek" or any other buttons make a difference for anyone else.
Huey, I would give PIE a call ASAP, probably a good a idea to use a cordless or a cell so you can sit in the cab while you are on the phone with them. My call went through right away and everyone I talked to was very nice.

I noticed that some used just the RCA and power and some mentioned the UII, has anyone used it? Seems allot easier with power and RCAS. My only problem is I have the new 30G Video IPOD and not sure if that "Universal" IPOD connection is compatible. http://www.discountcarstereo.com/ima...safe/uii_m.jpg Let me know what you guys think...I like the all in one deal. Also do you need the UDII and the other RCA connectors kit with headphone jack? I thought the UDII did it all...also I am FM modulating my XM Commander (I know it is like an 8 track and it is so quite) can I just hook up a plitter and run both when I install the UDII? Sorry for all the questions but I am all over this.

Yes I've searched. And yes I've read. I'm now on information overload. Basically my question is...are there instructions provided with the PIE that are adequate and accurate enough for me to connect it with? I keep getting different bits and pieces of info from 20 different threads. I am no wiring whiz. Will I be cutting any wires anywhere? Do I need a Ford book showing wiring to do this?
Thanks
Thanks
