Let's see

who can get the best gas mileage from their '150.

I bet we can do almost as good as the rest of the crowd, and still enjoy our best-built, toughest trucks.

I have a friend with an Escape (great little SUV, btw) who gets 18mpg. Hell I can do that with my '05 150 (4WD, 4.6L). So I plan to fill up tomorrow morning and watch the tach, and see just how well I can do. I suspect the difference in gas mileage between my truck and most of the other vehicles on the road is negligable.

Well I filled up today after babying it for the last tank with maybe only a few WOT goes to pass or whatever, and to my surprise.......18.0 mpg! My usual is around 17 but this was great, I had 420 miles on the trip and the needle was between 1/4 and 1/2 a tank (I got the big tank).

300 to 400 just a K&N filter. 14.58 MPG
Not the cold air kit kind

400 to 500 retest 14.61 MPG

500 to 600 Added a Borla cat back 16.63 MPG very happy with that #
Twin outlets at the rear bumper.

600 to still working on 700
all intown driving.
I filled up at the same gas station, same pump, same noze,
same grade. I wish I could say the same price.(cheap stuff)

I hope it is not from the eng. breaking in. The truck is only rated for 14 city

18.22 MPG was my best outing so far. Finally a category my 4.2 might win! Yay!

That was before my K&N drop-in, and I still haven't taken a road trip yet, so I am guessing I could easily get 21 or more! My future TruXedo Lo-Pro might help some too.

I got 19.1 from here to New Mexico and back, cruise at 78, with A/C, 87 octane, stock at the time.

Im pretty happy. I wonder what I could get now that I have a Magnaflow now. K&N is next.

I love these gas threads! :) The best I have seen with my truck is a little over 16 but that is a mix of city and freeway. Towing my boat this weekend so that wont help. I would expect around 18 or more with all freeway driving.

'04 Lariat Supercab 4x2, 3.55 limited slip rear, only mod is DJM 2" rear shackles. My commute is about 15 miles highway and another 5-6 miles city one way. On the highway, my trip meter says 20-21 mpg, with a peak at 22.something. Worst I've got on the highway was 18-19. City, I average 17-18 mpg. I've gotten about 330 miles effective range before hitting 1/4 tank, and then DTE still reads about 90 miles to empty. That's with the cruise set at 60-65 and running the A/C most of the time.

Hey guys, I heard this some where, that if use your cruise control (exept for hills) you can also gain some MPGs. I have a 200 mile trip next week i'll try it out then. :rocker:
