Reflash ?

My Uncle has 5.4 expo and he wants the reflash done but the dealer will not do it for him and then some friend of his told him not to get a program done cause it will void the warranty, and that he was stuck with the truck cause there is know such thing as a reflash. I said that he shoulda slapped that fool but whatever. What should he say to the dealership, or is there a site with some documentation stating the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What's to say he doesn't already have the latest PCM calibration available? Dealers really can't reprogram PCMs under warranty without some kind of specific complaint or concern to address; if it ain't broke, they can't fix it.

Look at it from the dealers perspective. People coming in and just asking for a computer re-flash? Well, what kind of problems are you having with your vehicle? Like Quintin said, without a specific complaint, it is going to be hard to get them to re-flash the vehicle. Just because we can read about all of these re-flashes on the internet, doesn't necessarily mean that we know when we need one.

This reminds me of all of the people that go to their doctor asking them to prescribe them something because they saw it advertised on TV. Maybe you should discuss the problem before you start offering up a solution.

When I had mine done, I was having a hesitation, the lag on acceleration. The dealer never hesitated, said sure and it helped a lot.

No, his truck has a bad miss and they told him there was no cure, so I see all these people that just get it done to have it done and my uncle is being told there is no update. I just thought there was a way to help him.

You didn't mention why he wanted the re-flash done. I am not sure if a re-flash can fix a miss?

Ok but still they are not doing anything to solve the issue and a tune could help with a miss if it has to do with a tune issue which I think is the case.

I got mine by just calling my dealer and asking if they reflash 04 F-150s, and they said yes, so they made me an appointment with me making no excuses to them. So it all depends on your dealer. If I were you I would try another dealer if posable, and tell them that the truck is miss fireing, and that the idle is ruff some times, other people used that one and it seemed to work for them. And some dealers also don't have the latest reflash, cause mine just got theres a few weeks before I called which was about 3 weeks ago. Hope this helps you.
