9k off the sticker was what i got with the "ford family plan". I did not even haggle. Why? It was a fair deal and what the heck is wrong with Ford and the dealer making a few bucks?

Get real.

Thats not correct, i just got Ernie Haire ford to come 3000 dollars off the emp price AND they gave me 1500 more for my trade. got a 05 lariat super crew . . out the door at 25K.. this is why i didnt buy from walker ford, autoway ford because of that same attitude. didnt want to deal so i walked. keep looking you will find the truck you want at the price you want.

Family plan about 15% off MSRP. Funny how MSRPs are so much higher than last year. Chevy's FP is about 25% off but again, they raised the MSRP well ahead of this. If its fair to you, thats just you.

You don't know if it is a few bucks they are making. It may be thousands. Nobody knows except them, and they ain't telling. One thing is certain, they are not about to do me any favors and take any loss.

They are in business to make a profit so THEY can feed THEIR children. Thats none of my business.

My business is to drive the best bargain and feed my children.

I purchased my truck before the Family Plan promotion came out -- paid $19,500 (plus TT&L) for a truck that MSRP'd at $27,840. The current Family Plan price on the same vehicle is about $800 higher than what I paid for mine without it.

Amen, brother.

Like I said before the FP is just a marketing gimic. The 'base' price of the F150 has been going up each and every month of 2005. Ford and the dealership make their money. For those of you that want to get a FAIR deal and make sure the dealership makes some money, more power to you. Thats how I can afford to get a better deal and NEVER pay 'stealer holdback'. I work to hard for my money to give it away without a fight. Its a numbers game, since they make money on all the non-hagglers, they can afford for someone like me to come in once in a while break even.

MART MAN, Great explanation on 'stealer holdback', seriously (some may not know how it works). But not my problem, don't pay it - never have, never will.

The MSRP is what is laughable to me. What is that number really? The only thing I can figure it represents is the price for a dealer selling only 1 unit.
Automobiles are nothing special, the more a dealer sells, the cheaper they ought to be able to buy them from Ford.
I guess what irked me was the guys stance that it was non-negotiable, however he was getting it from another dealer 2 states away so I just didn't think arguing was right since he did locate one for me. I actually found the dealer where the truck is located from Fords site to see the window sticker.
I added up the costs using the Consumer Reports pricing info on the FX4 and it was $1000 less than the price of the truck.
Anyone know if it is possible to use the Ford site to search nationwide? Going dealer by dealer is not how I want to waste my time.

The dealer is getting 6.5% of the MSRP back from Ford for every car/truck they sell under the Family Pricing Special. They can use that to make a deal (more on trade ..etc) or it's profit.

Now this is wht really kills me. Ford, chevy etc...drops the price of their trucks and sales go threw the roof. You got yours for 9K below sticker and I guarentee Ford made a profit. Do they really expect us to pay 9K more next month when this promotion is off? No way for me. If they can knock 15% off the price in August and make a profit they can do it every month. This whole Fmaily Plan thing is great because it gives me a better idea of just how low they can sell me a vehicle and still stay in business. I used to think 8% off sticker was a good/fair deal but now I know better thanks to them and I will not forget.

Another price that needs to be adjusted (in the same mode as the "family pricing")...Ford's excutive salaries and perks. Ever get a look at what these guys make? Sheeez, I understand the need for just compensation, but there should be a ceiling. That would lead to bottom line pricing as well.

I just picked my truck up 6 days ago. Final price was 22,000 sticker was About 30,000.00. The trade was fair, it was all good.

Then came the finance game.

To me it's all about the interest rate if the price is good. They did a quick finance app. and came back with a rediculous number. After requesting what the rate was (several times to get the answer) they told me 9.5% !!. That is a joke for anyone with good credit. This is another area they recover from a deal that appears "good", and I'll bet alot of people that don't understand finance fall for it. I ended up with 5.6% for 6 yrs.

The truck payment was then $75.00 less per month!!

If you are financing, don't overlook the rate. They love the "what are you looking for in a payment". They then manipulate the rate starting a rediculously high one to see if you will bite.

I bought my 04 in December, sticker was $38,500 and I got it OTD for $27,000. The only problem was Ford comitted Fraud. When we went to the Financing Department they said our credit score was really lower then it was, we didn't realize it until we had it checked out about a week later. They said our Beacon was 730 and its really in the 900s. Now talk about screwing someone..

Thanks Ford!
