Back from 9140 mile trip to Alaska, some thoughts.....
First off, anyone that likes scenery should really take that trip. Back to the truck.
Theses trucks are mile eating machines, I averaged 600 miles a day and never got uncomfortable in the seat. The most comfortable seat for long distance driving that I know of. When I bought the truck, 04 Screw Lariat 4x4, 40/20/40, I thought the seats could use more lateral support for spirited driving and I still do but they are comfortable even after driving 10 hours. Second, I averaged 16.63 mpg over the whole trip, not bad for all the mountains and the fact that I was hustling it the whole time. Had 2 tanks just under 15 mpg both of which were going into a stiff head wind, and 3 tanks around 19 mpg. The bulk of the rest were in the low 17 range. I kept a log of mileage and where I filled up so I know what the terrain was like and what speeds I was running and what the octane was. The timer on the truck said I had it on for 158 hours more or less so I averaged 57+ mph while the ignition was on, not bad considering all the construction, flag cars, customs 6 times, and stoping and taking pics.
Some other thoughts- still don't like the drive by wire, no feel to it. I think I can get better mileage without the cruise on. Don't like the fact that if the cruise is on and you want to get a run at the hill you have to push the pedal through that dead space since the pedal doesn't move with the cruise. The trip computer was usually about 2 tenths higher than what actual mpg was. I took a GPS unit and checked a few things. Speedometer is about 2 1/2% slow, the odometer is almost dead on, less than a half a percent less than what the GPS has.
While these trucks are not canyon carvers you can hustle them through the twistys well above the speed limit with confidence.
One last little note, my speakers are reversed. I listened to every CD I owed on this trip and one has a voice test that moves from left to right and it was backwards. My balance moves it the correct direction, you move it left the sound comes out of the left speaker etc. but the test CD said it was on the left side and the sound was out of the right. Someone else check theirs out, put a song in that starts on one side and see if it is the correct side.

Im leaving on road trip to Montana in a couple days. Should be a long trip--plenty of places to see. No direct shots, exploring the whole way. Im gonna try to keep good mileage but I always seem to blow it. I should get some good pics. I would love to takea trip on that AlCan highway--looks incredible.

Across Montana I had one tank that I got 16 mpg and 1 that I got 17, both tanks were at 80 mph.

I got same problem in my truck with the stereo. I think they wired the cd player wrong. I fade everything to the right and it works but when i fade everything to front the back right works and the left doesnt. I dunno but i just leave it balanced and everything works fine.
It could have been the wind, but it would have had to have changed directions because I didn't. I'm sure one had more elevation changes than the other. The next tank was through Wyoming and it was one of the worst but I know I had more up hills than down.
Finally got around to doing the walk around check, it does exactly what the screen says it should. I would guess that means all the radios are wired backwards (at least the 6 disk non-audiofile)
If the HU says FL and it played from the front left, wouldn't that mean that it's wired correctly? The only way it couldn't be wired correctly is if the text that comes up on the HU was programmed incorrectly as well. Like if it says FL, plays front left but should really be front right. Seems highly unlikely. Maybe your speakers at home, or wherever you usually listen to that CD are backwards.
