I would understand if it was just an 04/05 thing, but the sevice guy drove another 05 on the lot to check that hood vibration, and it had insulation and no vibration.
I just think it's weird that some have it and some don't. I wonder what the requirement was to get an 05 with hood insulation. Maybe they came from different assembly plants o something?

My 05 XLT build date was 11/11/04. No insulation, very smooth quiet truck. No rattles or wind noise. Every time we start down the highway, we comment how it rides smoothly and quiet.

Just came back with from the dealer and there is no resolution for my hood. They said I am going to have to come back on a day that an engineer is there and go for a ride with him. They said then he will open a case file on it and figure out what needs to be done. She suggested it could be anything from needing insulation under the hood to a new cowl to a whole new hood.
Ain't that great?

And in keeping on topic with the forum, the dealer said they checked all the 05's on the lot and 2 had insulation and 1 didn't. WTF?

TARDMAN91-check this out see if there is any play in your hood buy going to the front of the vehicle and grasping the hood up and down. i just did this to mine and i had about in 1/8" or less play. i adj. the hood release bracket down a bit and what do you know...it's as tight as can be...check it out...no more hood vibration at all.....
