315 70 17 on STX 4x2

Check out my gallery. Got them on today! The tire dealer said it couldn't be done and made me sign a waiver. These are Hummer take offs from Ebay. All I have on is a 2.5" autospring kit.

the reason the dealer made you sign a maiver was because the recomended rim size for those tires according to bfg specs is no smaller than 8.5 inch and you got 7.5 inch rims. lots of people have put these on with out any problems that I know of. I do know that it is recomended not to put too much pressure in those tires because it could cause issues like uneven tread wear or possibily poping a bead on the tire which could be vary dangerous. I would run 35 psi no higher. I myself want to get those tires but have been waiting to get some wider rims to go with them. for now the 285's will do. do you have any rubbing at all? and if so where?

Looks great man. How is performance(acceleration)? Did the tires kill it or what? I'm getting ready to order new rims and 33s for my black 4x2 stx as well but I'm also putting in 4.10 gears.

4.10 gears is a good choice for 33's. I someday would like to go to the 35's but want new rims and gears to go with them. I wish someone would make 4.30 ish gears for my truck I think that would be perfect for 35's.

Looks good, it looks like there may be some rubbing though. Is there any rubbing?

With 35s, I'd probably go ahead and throw some 4.56s in.

Did you add those fog lights to your STX, or did it come with them? I've never seen an STX with fogs, but it looks good. Thats the exact look I want for my Lariat. A leveling kit and 33's. I dont wanna kill my mileage too much. Anyone know how wide the Lariat rims are?

Jason: Suprisingly the dealer never mentioned the rim width. I was aware of the recommendation, but they were concerned about rubbing. I have very minor rubbing (as Beaver Tricks stated) at the stops. As long as I dont hold it hard at the stop its great. I did have to take off the front splash guards.

05stx: Acceleration is down from OEM, but the 4.6 is a dog anyway. My previous vehicle was a WRX so even the 5.4 test drive was a bore. I dont drive it hard and dont have anything to tow with it ...yet.

Super: The fogs are stock. Time will tell with mileage. Im gonna look into regearing, until then Im driving conservatively. Im saving up for a Ninja250 for commuting.

A big thanks to Beaver Tricks for posting his truck. And a big thanks to the guy on ebay, 10%wear, $435 shipped from Cali to STL. Next up is some step bars because I know my wife is going to gripe at me when she cant get in it!

That truck looks friggin' SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET! 2.5 inch Autospring is my next mod! By the way, how wide does 315 translate to in inches? I want to put on 33x12.5s but I don't want it to rub (my truck is 4x2).

I do believe the 315's bfg's are 35x 12.5 if I remember correctly.
