Troyer XCAL2, long story...
MHP, that would be me, no intake yet, just the Magnaflow. Figured it was money better spent going with the tune prior to intake as plenty of those here have testified to. You do not need to decide your intake selection prior to XCAL II, as any intake can be added after XCAL II and will not require a re-tune. Jury is out for me between the Airaid and AF1. According to Troyer Performance, these are the best two intakes in terms of power gains compared to the others. I do like the black finish of the Airaid as opposed to the chrome AF1, but the AF1 supposedly eeks out a bit more power. We'll see, still not sure. Good luck with whatever you do!

This is the way this truck should run out of the box. People should not have to spend large amounts of $$$ to get their truck to run the way it should out of the factory. Shame, Shame, Shame..........

P.S. - I haven't installed it yet, X2 is on order and not here yet. JLT specifies NO USE without a tune accomodating for it.
Thats exactly why you pay $300 for most intake kits, because they have been tested and researched and designed to work with a STOCK vehicle. It very rarely fails, you get what you pay for. I would have a hard time buying a no-name intake that says not to use unless you are tuned for it, especially on a $40k truck.
Damn, all those stupid a$$ 03+ cobra drivers buying $150 intakes which are twice as complex should be shot then...
From what I've seen around here and other forums, almost all CAIs gain more from a tuner not to mention have less problems. I expect we'll see the same thing with the '05+ mustangs being that these trucks were the first of the "new gen" electronics etc. I'm sure there will be a lot of SES/CE lights from people not using tuners to accomodate...

I got bit by the mod “bug”. I have only owned my truck for 2 weeks now, but I placed my order today for the Troyer Performance Stage 1 kit (with AF1 intake). It sounds like I’ll be waiting awhile for it, but I’m sure the performance gains I’ve heard about will be worth it. I’d love to have it all received and installed before a camping trip over Labor Day weekend. It’d be nice to do my towing with a little more throttle response and power!

I'm gonna be a busy modder...my mod bug might pass out from too much inhaling

there should be a theropy class for mod addiction. I am always waiting for enough money to be able to afford my next mod. I find myself looking for cheap mods just so I can mod. for example this weekend I will be installing a electric tailgate lock that locks and unlocks. with my electric locks with remote. just a 15 dollar mod but it will satisfy my craveings for one more week.
. I was considering getting me a excal 2 but was not sure it was really all as good as all the hype. now I am thinking it might have to be my next mod. this board just isn't helping my addiction.

Jason, I'm the exact same way, my wife thinks I'm beyond therapy. I'm constantly thinking of what else to do, I haven't even gotten my seat covers yet, and I'm already thinking about doing the flow thru console! I need to hit the lotto man.
