By the way.... I made a comment in the writeup that I bet they get hot. While I was doing the effectiveness photos I grabbed my infared thermometer. The glass was at 320F and the housing at 280F.

Keep your body parts away from these lights!!!!!

Thumbs up

Not to one-up you, i have done a similar mod with the added benefit of being able to turn the aux. lights on with the ruck in park or automaticlly when in reverse with 1 switch. Trick 2 color switch lets me know which mode i'm in, so i dont drive around with reverse lights on....comes in very handy!

my business partner and i invented this "tow Lite" (night job, not to be confused with day job working on rail modules :o)

we received our patent this June

it slips over a draw bar like a bike rack.

you can pivot the whole thing to the side to openyour tail gate.
the key is getting the lights elevated, and the correct optics. flood or trapezoid works much better than fog or driving optics

Nice mod.
Rambunctious got it right though. You should use a flood pattern light instead of a driving pattern to effectivly light the ground and surroundings for a good backup lamp.

The switches are at Autozone or Checker/Shucks/Kragen. About $5 each.

I think the consensus about a flood pattern is right. I'll keep my eyes open for a "disposable class" pair.

Cheers

I updated with lights with more of a flood pattern. I got them for $30 at Pep Boys. A bit more than I would like, but the light is white, and the beam pattern is much broader now. They are the same 55 Watts each, just distributed differently now.

The install looks like this now:

Cheers!

Bringing this back from the darkness.

Myst -

What type of power relay did you use? I've seen a 12 volt 30amp relay on the internet. I'm thinking this will work since I will use a fuse to regulate the amps down. I think I understand this part

The logic relay...this is what confuses me. Did you have to buy this or should I find this in my dash somewhere? I guess I just really don't understand the part from the logic relay to the switch. I checked your website and there is a wiring diagram but I don't understand some of the symbols.

Center Console light

Music Keg
According to crutchfield: connects to select 1998 and newer Kenwood changer-controlling receivers.
