Billet Fuels Doors

Tried doing a search but it came up with no answers to my questions. So....how hard are they to install? I'm talking about the real covers. And if you have one on your truck, post a pic if you've got one.

Thanks,

I would like to know that as well. I prefer the brushed steel look to the chrome.

Took me a few minutes. I think there are a few screws holding the stock fuel door on, remove those - pull old door off. Then my new door came with an adaptor - so I screwed this adaptor on, and the new fuel door clips on. Its super simple.

I agree, it is an easy mod to do. Took me about 15 minutes.

This really doesn't fit our trucks, it is for the older models with the larger openings. I did get mine to fit so that I can still unlock and remove the locking gas cap. There is a company that is suppose to make one for the new 04's and 05's.

Here's a black aluminum billet locking one I picked up. Easy to install except I had to grind down the latch of the lock to get it to seat right in the catch when you locked it.

We need to get Amp-Research to make a door for the new F-150's.

These guys supplied the fuel door on the Mustang Bullit which is a VERY well made and stylish door. I retrofitted the Mustang door onto my SVT Focus and always recieved compliments on how nice it looked.

They have the door for the Heritage models... wonder if it would fit the new fuel opening. I'm half tempted to contact them to see if they will make these for the new F-150. I'd buy one in a heart beat.

This is where I bought mine, But there is another place that is cheaper in price for the same door. Do a search...... Also this door is sometimes on E-Bay!

Do these get you away from that "Mickey Mouse" plastic arm and hinge mechanism that Ford has put on the new body style?

Nope........not in my case. I have just a replacement fuel door and use the same "Mickey Mouse" plastic arm and hinge. But it locks, looks good and I don't notice the plastic hinge as much now after a couple of months.
