That is some cool stuff you are doing there! Try leaving the tailgate in the half down position and see what kind of milage you get.
Moss motors has this for sale, they say in the half open position it improves milage. Maybe the cable would work just as good....
It may look kinda dorky driving with the tailgate not closed...but not open either.
