Supercrew moon roof, roof rattle, anyone else??

Okay so I opted for the moon roof and now I'm starting to regret it. I hardly ever use it as most friends said would happen oh well.

Now the worst part is that the head liner is starting to rattle. Right where the dome light is mounted it just bounces over uneven road surfaces. Same when I shut the door getting in the truck. This is something I hope they can fix as a warranty issue. Not broken pursay but sure not a thing the quietest truck on the planet should have.

Anyone else have or hear about this problem?

HELP!!

Yes I have this problem and it is SO ANNOYING!!!! I don't have any idea if it's something the dealer will fix or even consider though.

Why is it not something they would fix. It didn't rattle when I drove it off the lot. It wasn't designed to rattle. So FIX THE DAMN THING!

I have the same trouble...This was a thread in the interior care section recently..Look for the "05 Headliner Bounce" thread...Also someone mentioned in that thread that there is a TSB for this 05-09-06.. I cannot find the TSB though..

Your dealers need to reference TSB 05-14-2; involves installing foam shims between the headliner and the roof panel.

Edit - 05-9-6 has been revised and updated to 05-14-2.

I had the same problem and fixed it myself. If you pull the dome light assembly completely out and put your hand up in there, you will find a little foam spacer block glued to the headliner. The foam block is the source of your rattle as it is bouncing up and down and hitting the metal roof of the truck. There is just enough room between the block and the roof for it to bounce around (nice job on that little piece of engineering).

You can either put another piece of soft foam between the foam block and the roof, or do what I did and rip the damn thing out of there.

Angry

I called my dealer and made an appt citing the TSB and these bozos didn't even order the part until I showed up for the repair! Ok, so now I'm steamed and they tell me the part is backordered!! AAHHHHHH!!! It's been 2 months, no part and the rattle is driving me crazy! If Ford knows about this problem, why can't they fix it before they sell the truck? AND, if the fix is just a shim, how can something that simple need to be backordered? Aggravated in Arizona

Easy fix I learned here, cant remember who gets the credit. Do as above, remove the dome light, install some 3M double sided tape (the good stuff, you can find it at any auto parts store, I have some on hand for many household uses) between the foam block and the roof cross member (I had to use a bent wire hanger to get it in there because its tight) push up and it holds together perfect. Time from start to finish, maybe 10 mintues tops. MUCH easier than going to the dealer, hell, I did it on a Sunday morning in my pajamas after reading the fix here.

Fixed mine. Just took some insulation and stuffed it between the foam blocks and the roof. Good as new! Better have small hands to get up through the dome light area.

there's more room if you just pull off the moonroof opening molding, you have the whole width of the moonroof to work with.
