So who is tired of the plastic applicays on the 05 Screw. I know I'm probably spelling them wrong but you know what I'm refering to anyhow. So I thought that instead of paying to have them painted. Why not just order four new 04 ones from the dealer, since they were painted on the 04 and not plastic. At least I was told they were painted on the 04's by another member.
Anyone able to search for part numbers and prices? Wouldn't that be cheaper than having them painted? Just a thought.

I am not sure, but I don't think the 2005 appliqués attach the same way as the 2004 appliqués do.
You might verify this before you spend your money.
The 2004 appliqués are not painted body color, they are gloss black instead of matte black.

i dont know about the flat black ones but my 04 glossy ones are always dirty. if you look at them they get smudges and handprints on them. Maybe thats why ford changed them. However when clean they do look nice.

Yeah good point, whenever people get in and out of the back of the Srew they leave hand prints along that area. The flat black hids that better than gloss. But gloss does look so much better.

Or maybe as another poster said to save a little money. Or both
As you said...the flat black _does_ do a good job of concealing the chicken grease prints that some people leave when getting in the truck.

I also, wanted mine painted body color. So, I talked to a body shop here in Indy. The rate was 184 even for the four appli-whatevers. I just decided there was a ton of other stuff on the rig I would rather spend 184 on.
