Anyone have Nitto Terra Grapplers or Toyo Open Country M/T's on Stock 18" Wheels

Anyone here running Nitto Terra Grapplers or Toyo Open Country M/T's on 18" FX4 Stock Wheels? If so, let me know the size and issues if any.

I had my 1.5" leveling kit installed that lifted my truck 2.25 inches and Im ready to buy some new tires.

Im thinking either:

Nitto Terra Grapplers - 325/60/18
-or-
Toyo Open Country M/T - 33/12.50/18 (What does this calculate to? 325's or smaller?)

Let me know...post some pics if you have this setup or somthing similar with the tire sizes...Im just interested if its either stock height or with a leveling kit so I can compare it to what I will be installing on.

Thanks!

I know someone here has the Nitto's on stock wheels. However, a 325/60-18 is too wide for a stock 18x7.5 inch wheel. I didn't know Toyo made a 33x12.50-18. The 325/60-18 Nitto is approximately a 33x13.50-18 or 34x13.50-18. The 33x12.50-18 Toyo is also a little wide for your wheels, but it's a lot closer to what's recommended than the Nitto's.

I have this exact setup. I am only using this setup for the winter months.

I don't have any pics of the stock wheels with Terra's on the truck because I put the 20" wheels back on till winter.

I will most likely sell these wheels and tires and opt for 20" wheels with larger Terra's because I also leveled my truck with a 2" spacer kilt for the front end and to me the 18's look too small after looking at the 20's for 8 months. The Terras look GREAT though!!!

Couple of other points:

No issues with rubbing
They do not stick out beyond the fenders

Nice...I hope whoever I buy the tires from will mount'em. Have any tires shops given you guys cr@p since its not mounting on the manufactured suggested rim width?

Heres what Toyo had on their site for the Open Country M/T's...they are a nice looking tire. Im just trying to find out what the treadwear is on it...

I tried the Nitto 325-65-18" on the optional 18" wheels with the 2.5" leveling kit installed. This tire is great, but too wide.
Discount Tires worked with me to exchange these tires for the 295-70-17" and I purchased 17" 6-135mm chrome rims.
The stock wheel needs backspacing around 4" to 4 1/2" to work.
I did not have any tire rub on the fender with the 325's.

If you wanted to replace stockers with something very close, they make 285/60/R18's in the grapplers. Overall diameter is 31.3 and stock BFG's are 31.9, so you gain a size in width and pretty much keep the same overall height. I found a place online that sells this size and offers free shipping! At about $157 a piece, I will probably get these whenever I wear mine out. Hows the tread hold up on the Nittos compared to the BFG's? They are rated at 500 treadwear and BFG's are 400 but that rating is brand/type specific so not really a good comparison. Are they noisy?

You did the 325/65 18 and had no rub...thats amazing! Yeah, Im sure it will definately be either the Toyo Open Country M/T (33/12.50/18) or the Nitto Terra Grappler (325/60/18)...The toyos look more aggressive and I think might be a tad smaller (not by much, barely noticable to the eye I think).

a tire shop shouldnt complain about mounting the toyo's. i am looking into those same tires myself, the first 33 m/t for 18's!! i've been waiting since i got my truck to hear this.

Yeah, I was surprised that not many people, if any, are running those on this froum. Doesnt seem to be as popular as the Nittos...maybe theyre new?

takotruckin May 23, 2005 11:36 PM

i really cant wait till bfg finally releases some 33's

powerage May 23, 2005 11:55 PM

Both are backordered. I checked when i bought mine. They are both fairly new. I don't know when the 33's came out but the 35's were in the fall.

ThumperMX113 May 24, 2005 09:55 AM

I was told they were going to be on back order for about 6 months. :fyi:
