Question where is the DRL resistor in the 04's

is it in the same place as the earlier trucks...behind the d.side headlight?
any does removing it still work like the earlier trucks to disable them?

My XLT has the shutoff built right into the headlight switch.
I would think they would all be that way ??? Why would you have to search for some way to disable it other than just switching it off.. ??????

mine is 05, but I don't have daytime lights either. Just a switch on the **** for the auto lights, which I leave on. They only come on when it's pretty dark. DRL only an option on 04's and not 05's?

Daytime running lights are mandatory in Canada. I'm guessing Riken is from there. I know that a few members here have added the resistor to save money on there insurance. I think that the way insurance is set up in NJ you save a couple hunderd dollars a year adding this feature.

so what does the resistor do then? run them at a lower voltage? or make it so they are always on? If it just lowers the voltage I would think I can just call my insurance now, and tell them I just drive with them on all the time.

Don't take the resistor out. Right beside where the intake tube goes into the fender is a fuse/relay box. It only has like 3 or 4 relays in it. Pull the realy. That is all you have to do. I did it and it works great. I forget which one but if you look in your manual it says which one it is.

I'd be willing to bet that it would be like just adding that relay since the trucks are basically the same wiring wise and all. Check and see if you have those wires and an empty relay spot under the hood. Run a meter and see if the leads are hot etc. etc.

Great pic. Can you post one for the Relay? I have a 04 and read many posts that don't seem to get to the point of where the Relay is. I have heard it is under the Steering Column behind a plate... Thanks!

I did that the day I got my truck 05, The wires are NOT in the 05 trucks. That really
was a shock not have them in it like on my 01. I guess in this case it was cheaper to not make just one harness. :santa:
You should make copies of that disc and sell it, I would buy one.
