Nitto's & MB Predator's being installed tommorow

Tommorow I am having some 295/70/17's installed on the new MB Predator wheels. Hopefull this higher quality tire will make my intermittant steering shimmy disappear permantley. I had discount road force balance my Goodyears and the nibble went away for a few days and started coming back intermittantly. One of the road forced at 26lbs and all the others were in the low 20's. They were able to get the 26lb tires down to 16lbs. I am crossing my fingers, wish me luck guys. Thanks.

Well, I got the tires and wheels installed yesterday afternoon. The final road force measurments were 6,11,15,31. I had them put the 31lb tire on the left front to see if it would shimmy. It still did not shimmy even with a tire that is over Fords 25lb limit. I know it took very little weight to get the tires to balance, much less that the stock tires and rims. They only did a static balance. They said they did not believe they required a dynamic balance because it took so little weight to balance. This is pretty interesting stuff. I will keep you guys up to date. So far no shimmy witht the 295/70/17 Nitto's.

Question nitto's

You have the 295/70R17 Nitto Terra Grappler right? Where did you get them? I have been waiting months for them to get off back order. Nitto said they wouldn't be out again until sometime July.
Thanks

I got lucky on getting a set of 295/70/17's because they are on back order. Discount Tire checked all of their locations nationwide and found some in a Georgia store. The tires are a little louder than I expected at highway speeds. However, they look pretty damn cool! I will get some pics this weekend.

I am sure the Mud Grapplers are a good bit louder. I am not complaining, I am just a little suprised. They are a good bit louder than the BFG AT's I had on my 2000 F-150.

If you think the Terra Grappler are loud, never buy any mud terrian tire.

After my dealer replaced my OEM tires with new road force balanced Generals 3 weeks ago, the truck is going back into the shop on Monday because I still have steering wheel nibble at 70 and above. Road force numbers on this new set are between 14-19.

This past week I received my new set of Nitto 295-50-r20s mounted on a used set of MB Motoring Express rims that I bought from Discount Tire. I was going to wait until the dealer got my problem resolved before they went on the truck. I had Discount Tire road force balance them...10,20,21,36. Called them today to let them know I'm not happy about the 36 tire/rim. They'll take care of this if I need it replaced.

Well, I couldn't wait to see them on my truck and drive it to see if the problem went away or changed with the new 20s. So I slapped them on tonight. Test drive and the nibble was worse than ever! This only tells me that Ford is masking the real problem. The old 17s go back on Sunday before they get another shot at fixing my problem.

Love the MB Express rims and the Nittos. I didn't want to spring for the extra cost of the Terra Grapplers. These NT404s look great, too. Will send pics when the truck is cleaned up.
