Talking I thought these trucks were heavy!

Well tonight riding out to the party spot with my friend. I decided to get on it going down the power lines a little bit. I was going about 25-35 mph. The truck felt like it was skimming over the whoops like a pre-runner truck. When I pulled up to the fire and got out. Everyone was like holy shat! The front end was air born on the top of every one of those whoops along with the back end a couple of times. I was amazed and didn't believe them until pretty much everyone confirmed it. The ride in the cab felt smooth other than being locked into my seat. My head wasn't bucking all over the place like other trucks (lighter trucks) I've drove. I love the new 2004-2005 F-150s!

Just thought I'd share!

Fords have always been much tougher. I Remember the movie Mr. Majestyk that had Charles Bronson in it. They made this stock truck do things I'd have never done with mine. Ford actually used part of that movie in its commercials showing the stoutness of its Twin I Beam front suspension. Ford has always had the toughest truck. This was back in the mid 70's. Here is some movie trivia for you. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071866/trivia

This is why they are built FORD TOUGH!

This is the benefit of the coil over suspension that Ford uses on these trucks now. The weight is better supported and is easier to control. Dodge and Chevy still use torsion bars which, in my experience, are much easier to bottom out.

Theres no way it weighs 7000 lbs. These things weigh around 6000 lbs depending on how much gas you have.

None of the screws weigh that much. While picking up some stuff at my local autozone today ( You guys are going to really cost me) I talked to a 04FX4 Owner with some major mods. Lift, Big wheels w/heavy tires, triple roll bars, More mods then I've even seen here. He said he's just over 6k pounds fully loaded. Thats with 2 spares mounted on his roll bars. Wish I'd had my digital camera with me. It was one sweet ride!

Skeeter, you mean Maximum GVW, not actual weight. The Max GVW is a number used for law enforcement purposes to define the most your truck is allowed to weigh when loaded and driven upon Federal highways. This number is very important to those jerks driving around in those cop cars with the blue stripe and D.O.T. painted on the doors.

Not to derail the thread, but funny you should mention that Rocky-D.O.T pulled me over in my F250 last year and told me I needed a class D license to operate my 250 because the GVWR was over 8,000 lbs. After numerous calls (including one to Tallahassee), it was determined he was in the "right". Mainly because I was pulling a 5x8 (YES 5'x8') trailer with a company name on it I guess--I was NOT breaking ANY traffic laws, is why he pulled me over and kept me for almost an hour. Anyway, after an attorney and 500 bucks, it was thrown out. Yes, I could have gone to court with proof of my Class D--which I went ahead and got--and no big deal--but--it became a matter of principle after that. Plus--if the judge WAS having a bad day, he could of slapped upwards of a 300 fine on me, so why chance it. Not to mention, I was going out of town during the week of my court date. So all was well in the end I guess.......

While you were barreling thru the whoops was there any concern that your timing would be off and you would nose-dive into the next one setting off your airbags? I know it sounds silly but the other day I was doing the same thing and thought how embarished I would be driving up to everyone with a couple of airbags in my lap. Does anyone think this might be a valid concern, all the other beaters I've had were too old for airbags.
