Gears and lockers

I think the 2004-2005 F150 , that come with the 5.4 have the 9.75 rear axle, not sure about the front axle. Anyways I found gears and a locker here www.completeoffroad.com the locker I think is the same one used in the Lightning.

But no way would a street truck have a locker in it.

A. you couldnt turn for crap
B. when you turn you would be wearing the crap out of the tires

rear- 9.75" axle
front 8.8 rev cut

I believe there are only FEW avaiavble for rear 9.75, what i have found so far, detriot locker, eaton locker.

As for 8.8 (std or rev cut) have plenlty lockers out there like ARB, OX, detriot etc.

If it were me, i would get Detriot TRue trac front and rear its best limit slip out there and a big bonus is that it doesnt have any wear parts, like clutch pack etc- nothing !

Yeah a locker like detriot locker might not good idea for street and it can be wear tires so fast and you ll hear/ feel chunk on every corners- thats normal.

Have fun!

Definately DO NOt get a full time locker for the rear unless you don't care about on road drivability. Teh air or electronic actuated or else the LS would be best.

no locker in the lightning, it is a spicer trac lock, what are you trying to do for your truck? a LS is fine for most people, if you are trying to build a good offroad capable rig try the detriot locker for the rear 9.75, yes you will hear a clunk clunk clunk every time you turn on the street put it is strong and very streetable unlike what
mlawdawg said the detriot full time locker is ok to drive on the street i think he is thinking of a spool or minni spool these are not to be driven on the street bad tire scrub will result

They can be though, just need to have the power and learn how to slide around corners.

No, what I meant is that while you can drive a Detroit locker and such on the street, I would not recommend it unless you don't care about the noise during turns, a little oddness in the handling, and you don't drive in winter conditions where the locker may induce a spin out on the highway on black ice. They are very dependable, as you said, but not nearly as street friendly as an LS. If havign it all is the goal (streetable plus major offroad capabilities), then an air or electronic locker is best (if they even make one for the 9.75 yet).

Any advantages to keeping the LSD in the rear and and getting an air/electronic locker for the front?

Yeah. You can "turn" on the full frontal lock when needed.

I'm hoping desperately that they come out with an air / electronic lock for the rear 9.76 SOON. I've become the master at "power breaking" in order to get the LS to kick in and I'm sick of it. I want the option of full or non at the push of a button. Although, I'm kind of weary of the ARB. Not sure I want to put an air compressor in my truck or like the idea of having a vacuum hose to my diff. The Eaton electronic one seems like it would work great but I'm not sure how that will work if it gets muddy or wet from FORDing a river or a creek.

Is that the FULL locker? To me, LSD is not a locker and sometimes people say locker and mean LSD.
