Leather Option For XLTs

For those of you looking to upgrade your cloth interior to leather I may have a good option for you.

I recently purchased a set of leather on ebay from a company that does F150 conversions. They apparently remove the leather from Lariats and replace it with custom leather covers.

However, Lariat's have pull down arm rest in the rear screw seats and center console in the front. To solve this problem I had a local (Austin, TX) installer use the rear arm rest leather section to sew close the hole in the rear seat. He then used the Lariat front arm rest cover to recover my fold down arm rest in the front seat. He purchased a new middle seat cover from a custom seat cover dealer and matched the leather perfectly. The color was classified as ivory.

All in all, I paid $70 for the leather on ebay and another $250 to have it modified and installed. Total cost $320! Not bad...

The photos are a little dark, but it looks great.

Looks nice. What did you do with your original seat covers? Were they cloth?

That looks great. I have been debating about doing the same thing. Are the covers as tight as the cloth was from the factory? You said you paid $70 for the leather. Was that for all of the seat covers? If so, do you have the sellers name? The cheapest I have seen the covers was $159 and I thought that was a good deal.

Thanks!

I let the installer have the old seat covers. They had some stains and I knew I would never use them again.

Yes, the leather covers are as tight as the old cloth covers.

The ebay seller was Used Mustang Parts. They were listed for $189 at first, but didn't sell. They then offered them on a normal auction.

The trick is finding someone to install and modify them at a low cost. I called several companies from the phone book and was surprised how much they wanted just to install them. Not to mention the sewing work that was needed. I finally found a small company called "The Car Salon" here in Austin to do the work needed.

Hey good deal man, you made out well! I installed a two-tone leather seat kit once in my old car, it was made by E&G Classics and cost $600 shipped for the kit. Then it cost me $300 to have it installed (but I had some custom door panel work done at the same time).
