Can I replace front shocks by myself?

I want to replace my shocks with some Bilsteins. I know the rear should be easy enought, but what about the front? Has anyone out there replace them yet? For the front, is it simple unscrew the old, and put on new? Or do you need to compress the springs? Any help would be appreciated.

Yep, you're gonna have to remove the coils from the old shocks and put them on the new Bilstien coilover shocks. You could remove them and take them somewhere to have the springs removed and installed. Anyone that does shock and strut replacements should have a heavy duty coil spring compressor that could handle the job.

Definatly don't go to Discount to try and get a spring compressor. The only thing they had looked like it was made for a Honda Civic. When I started compressing the spring the damn thing started bending!

Same thing happened to me with the ones I got from Autozone. Thought, "I did tell the guy it was for a FULL size truck right???""
