I was helping a friend move this weekend and took some friends for a ride in my truck during the move. They mentioned that they like the ride in the new 04/05s. Toughness of a truck, but the ride quality of a car.

Yeah, my dad was ... I guess you could say preaching at me the other day... because I asked them why, if he is a ford person, he drives a dodge... he told me that because he would be like me paranoid about scratching the paint... and that he wants a truck that will work, that he could throw a brick or something or other, into the bed and not worry about dents or scratches (his dodges' bed is all scratchy and dented... kind of makes me sick, even if it is a dodge :-( ). He said he needs a truck that will do the work, not a luxurious charter truck. I told him they have "work truck versions" and that I had a rhino liner anyway, and he could throw a brick in my bed if he wanted too, but he too stubern to realize that thease F-150's can do just as much (and more) than his ol' dodge, and they are not afraid to get their feet wet... Then... on my way to visit the ever so popular gas station :-/ ... I realized something... he's a Cop, he dosn't need a work truck.

I am 18 and have full coverage because I am still paying for my truck, and with a $250 deductable my insurance is $196.00 a month. Just went up because more more claims for teenage boys in pick up trucks. you also get money off for a security system and abs brakes. at least with state farm. Keep good grades and dont get a ticket and it will not be too bad.

Stay away from 2 door sports cars, that were insurance will rape you.

Good luck with getting your truck.

I wanted a Lightning since I started driving but everytime I'd try to get one I wouldn't have the money or could find one cheap enough. Awhile ago I realized I could have had one if I had been saving all my money instead of spending it on other things. Doesn't matter now though, I totaled my old truck and got a truck I really wanted. So if you have to work for awhile and save up do it because when you're driving the truck you really want, you will feel all that time was worth it.

Insurance is going to be a lot high on a 4x4 F-150 over a 4x2 ranger especially if you're buying an old ranger. They factory in the cost of repairing and replacing the vehicle as well as the demographics of the vehicle. You can get Cheaper insurance on a STI than a WRX even though the STI is more powerfull and expensive becaue the people who own them haven't been totaling them. It's just the way insurance works. They run numbers and base their prices off statistical information.

If you want to lower your insurace, then you'll have to wait until you're older or go ahead and buy a house and get married right now ;-)

I could always get a 4x2 f-150, lol but I don't think I will do that... Heres why. Because just the other day I was in a ... muddy situation while trying to pull my mom's car out of the mud in my grandpas truck. I myself then got stuck and I spun out for about 30 seconds before I realized I have 4 wheel drive. I switched it into 4 wheel drive and drove right out of the mud. My point is, is that if I was stuck, I probably would have had to call a tow truck and get myself out of that situation... so... 4 wheel drive is ... safer and should be considered a safety feature.

Yeah, but most people think that a 4x4 is more dangerous because it sits higher...never mind the fact that the center of gravity might actually be lower than a 2wd due to the heavier drivetrain and suspension components.

It can also get you into more trouble than you can handle by getting you further into an area that a 2 wheel drive vehicle would never be.

just put the truck in your parents name and have them list you as a part time driver of that truck.

Depends on your insurance company. Check it out with them because I know on my plan the new driver's insurance rate is always based on the newest vehicle. Screwed up I know.
