23.2 Mpg!!

Wow, today made about a 125 mile trip down to a buddies ranch, and was amazed at the mileage. Filled up just before we left, and filled up again when we got back 125.4 miles later. Took 5.2 gallons. That means we got 23.2 MPG in our 4.6L SCab STX 4x2. I never thought a 6000 lb beast like that could get that good of mileage. I may be wrong, but I think I have the new record for this forum.

What was your speed? If I go around 50-55 mph, I get amazing gas mileage similar to (but not as good as) that.. even with my 3.73's and 5.4L. The only problem is, I cannot drive that slow!! hah

It was 60-65 mph the entire trip, it was going on flat lands, no stopping at all.

I got 21 once driving to Georgia. Most of the time I get 14ish city and 18ish freeway.

Towing my toy I get about 10. I knew not spending the extra $$$ on a diesel might bite me. But diesel is about $0.30 more then fuel now.

I am in the 12mpg club no matter what I do. I am taking it to the dealer this week. Maybe getting it reflashed might help. I dont know what else to do, but it is killing me.

Just for the record, your truck should weigh a tad less than 5000. My XLT with steel rims and a half a tank of gas weighs 5050...Kevin

Ugh?!? If you were doing 85+ MPH, you were (or at least should have been) in overdrive.

I've noticed I get much better gas mileage also when I go 55...around 20 mpg. But if I go 60-65 I get around 18 mpg.

I got 23mpg last week.

Of course, that was after gunning it up a hill, then resetting the gas mileage thingy and coasting downhill.

For that matter, I got 50 mpg!!!
