"X plan" - let's have your input...
O.K., so an interesting piece of information came out another thread I started regarding my ordering a new F150 yesterday.
Essentially, I qualify for X plan, which to my understanding generally works out to about $700 - $800 over dealer invoice (I'm in Canada, so the equivalent would be roughly $500 in the US). Ultimately I agreed on dealer invoice + $500, specifically because it was explicitly understood that this was an improvement compared to X plan. Now, Johnc515 posted in my original thread that to his knowledge, X plan is typically $100 - $200 under dealer invoice, so obviously we have some conflicting information, and I'd really like to get to the bottom of it if possible. So, what's the word? Do I had reason to be concerned? Thanks! |
X plan is A-plan price + 4% + $150 surcharge on Ford and Mercury vehicles or $250 on Lincolns.
D/A plan is WSD + Dest. & Delivery + 1% dealer advertising + $75 transaction fee. Unfortunately, I'm admittedly a little fuzzy on what "WSD" means, I bought my truck on D-Plan and it was about $500 below invoice if I recall. |
looks like it will be easy to figure out once the final invoice comes in. I just checked the vehicle order confirmation that will be used by the order guy to make the order on Monday.
It has MSRP and dealer invoice right on the document. I'll just need to clarify tomorrow morning that should X plan be under the dealer invoice + $500, that I will expect to have that option. Man, I tell ya, I think I might have to go have a beer or something..... |
I bought mine under X-plan and I have to say it's a pretty good deal. Basically invoice plus a hundred bucks or so. Plus you get all the dealer rebates or incentives they have going on at the time as well. No hassle, No haggle, just a killer deal. "Supposedly" people are able to haggle and fight and get a deal close to X-plan price, but having it just saves you all that trouble.

Jackpine - Make sure Xplan in Canada are same as US Xplans. I am not sure they are.
I just reviewed my paperwork on my truck. It's only about 50-75 below invoice using a Xplan not as I stated in last post. I brought a 05 using a Xplan pin in November, I have a friend who's picking one up this week from a local dealer. My deal was about $61.00 below invoice plus all rebates and at that time Ford was offering $500.00 dealer cash on X-plans, plus the dealer gave added a bug shield ($50-75 value). Here's what my friends deal is on a 2005 Lariat supercrew 4x4: MSRP: 41,295 Invoice: 36,352 X Plan: 36,296 (Only $ 56.00 Below) A/Z Plan: 34,755 You can double check by adding 4% & $150.00 to the A plan. We took these numbers off of the invoice at a dealer in Marlow Heights, Maryland (Sheehy Ford) yesterday and matched them at the ford direct website. Remember as others have mentioned, no haggling (unless your trading). You can still shop dealers for you trade (if you have one), I went to two dealers before I got a good trade in value. As I said in earlier post, anywhere near or below is a good deal. You should look up "Suavy" in the F-150 online members, he know the palns very well. Good Luck. |

Johnc515 - I was just researching that very point, i.e. if the plan is different in Canada than the US. I logged into the Canadian x plan site and they give three examples of how it works - in the F250 sample, x plan is about $750 over invoice, so it would probably be fair to suggest that the F150 is roughly the same. The Explorer sample provided less spread, but the invoice was a greater percentage of MSRP than with the F250 example.
I guess since they're makin 'em in the US, you guys should get a *bit* better deal :) I think I'm quite satisfied now - we'll just have to wait and see what incentives come along to sweeten up the deal between now and delivery. Thanks for the replies and the insight - I've only been here a little while but I love this site. I can't imagine how often I'll be here when I actually have the truck...... |
I'm In montreal and I bought a F150 with a "X" Plan last November . The sales manager was cool and I ask him to show me his invoice and it was all written there : Retail , X Plan , a plan + Dealer cost.
This wasn't a home made copy , this was the Ford invoice the dealer get when the vehicule hit the lot. He had no problem to show it to me . I even got a $1000.00 Back from Ford on top of that a full tank of gaz . I filled it up myself with the salesman when I took delivery of the truck. I thought the tank was leaking cause I put $115.00 of gaz in it ( canadian $$ ) If I'm not mistaking the truck was $46K and I got it for $41.5K . |
