All FX4's are not the same?
Okay,
Strange thing happened this morning. I drove up to my normal parking spot at work, and there was a clone of my Black FX4 sitting in my spot. I said clone, but it's a little different. I have a Supercab and he's got a Supercrew. But what I noticed bothered me a little, so I had to ask you guys. Since I parked right next to him I used the opportunity to compare! Rear end of the truck sits at the same overall height, but the front is fairly different. His truck sits about 1.5 to 2 inches higher than mine. His headlights are higher, his mirrors are higher and he has more fender well showing. It doesn't appear that he has a leveling kit, it just appears that mine is more slammed in the front than ususal. I've got to fix this! I've thought about a leveling kit, but if I have a problem or a defective front suspension from Ford then I'm gonna talk to them about it. Any ideas from you all? Can one of you stock FX4 guys measure the amount of fender showing from the top of your BFG's to the bottom of your fender and let me see if I'm 2 inches shorter than you all. Grrrr. |
He might have the black daystar spacer, it can be hard to notice those. Just a thought.
|
Where would I find one of those?
|
I would have looked if the truck sat level? Trucks that do not have a leveling kit are easily noticed do to the slant the truck stands at. If that FX4 your looking at was not leveled by just looking at it whick you can tell just by looking at the truck, more then likely you have something wrong with yours, but it sounds like he does have a leveling kit on his, which would make it about 2 inches higher in the front

Sounds like a leveling kit to me! :beers:

Sounds like a black leveling kit to me.
I ordered mine off of Ebay, I got it for about $120 shipped to my door. Im just waiting to put it on! |
Did it have the 18" wheels instead of the 17" that are standard? That may account for some of the height difference.
|
I'd go with level kit as well. You cannot see my daystar unless you know what to look for. It looks stock & rules.
Cincy - wheel size has nothing to do with it... tire size might, but even if the guy had bigger meats, both the font and rear would be lifted equally. |

Did you get the black Daystar kit? |
I have it Thumper and you really cant see it unless you know what to look for above the spring. The truck looks soooo much better level! :bows:
|
Does it make the truck too nose high?
Also as you can see in my signature, the distance from the top of the back tire to the fender is so much greater than that of the top front tire to the fender. Is this fixed? Sorry for all the questions...:bows: |
There are no stupid questions when it comes to taste...oh nevermind.:D The 2.5 " Daystar will make the distance from the ground to the bottom of wheelwell within a 1/2" of each other front to back whick is what you want. The truck looks level and looks good even with stock tires.

Well actually he does have 18" rims with BFG Rugged Trail T/A's, but so do I.
His truck doesn't look level, it looks slanted, but just not as slanted as mine. I guess I'll look into the Daystar's or Autosprings. I hate the nose down look. |
Yup, black daystar.
