Question blocks in back of 2wd

I have heard two different answers to my question, but I am not sure which one is correct. I am installing a 2.5" autospring on the front of my truck. I hate how low the 2wd f-150s sit so I want to add the 2" blocks and u bolts that come on the 4x4s. If I were to add the blocks and u bolts do I need new extended length rear shocks, a parking brake drop bracket, and/or a brake line drop bracket. Or, can I just add the block and the shocks have enough in them to extend 2"? I'd appreciate any expertise.

I am 'pretty' sure that you can add the blocks without anything else. Heck! Its only 2 inches

that's what I thought until salesmen at fabtech started telling me all of these other modifications that I need to make. So the 4x4s and 4x2s have the same shocks?

There have been some people on this site that have put the 2" blocks on their 2x4.... GearSlammer had some I think.

I dont recall any of them saying they had to replace shocks....

It might stress the stock shocks just a tad to extend 2 more inches... but so what... their stock shocks, they suck.

You could pick up a pair of bilstiens pretty cheap.. and I hear theyre good

I think the shocks would survive an extra 2” but you’ll have to get longer U bolts. I’ve read in some previous threads that the 2 ½” Autospring kit has a problem with the upper control arm hitting the coil-over when you go over bumps.

Originally posted by bill maier (snip)

I had the 2" spacer(over 3" lift) on for a couple months and had serious issues with the upper control arm clanking loudly against the coil going slowly over large speed bumps.
There are a couple more posts about the control arm bumping in the numerous Autospring threads.

I have the Autospring 2"s installed. I also have the 2" blocks and u-bolts from a 4x4, but they aren't installed yet. A buddy of mine is trying to fab some 1" and 1.5" blocks. I gave him a deadline of 2 weeks. At that point, I'll be installing the 2" blocks. I'm actually hoping he can fab some 1" blocks for me. Will post pix later.

Getting back to the thread (sorry)...you will not require anythign but the blocks and u-bolts. It has been suggested to install longer shocks, but this isn't necessary.

When I still had my Autospring on, I had 2" blocks out back. You don't NEED new shocks, but I'd recommend getting longer ones. Over big bumps, you can hear and feel the stockers maxing out.

If you get the 2" Blocks, just pick up some 4X4 shocks as well.

Any recommendations on the best place to get the blocks. I posted a classified for 4x4 owners who put on a lift kit for their old blocks and u bolts but I didn't get any hits. So, where's the best place to buy them? Any particular shock? Thanks alot

Haven't verified, but people have said you can get them from your Ford parts dept. Ask for the 4x4 blocks and u-bolts. There was a thread with the part #'s and prices somewhere.
