Lock Your Tailgates?

Well, you put the small end of the zip-tie into the big... Oh, you probably mean the lock actuator.
Look up a member called Myst. He has a great write-up with pictures in his profile which is what I followed. This is a cheap, easy project, and it's well worth it.

I used to lock mine, until...
About a month ago, I was helping my friend haul his broken-down Jeep Cherokee to a repair shop. We were using one of those car dolly things where you mount the front wheels on it and pull it down the road.
Anyway, my friend put the trailer on my truck's hitch, but little did I know that he didn't fasten it down all the way... So when we pushed the Jeep onto the dolly (with the tailgate closed), the trailer tongue popped up off the hitch, sliced through my tailgate, and then came back down on it, leaving a horrid dent and gash. Needless to say, I was pissed. Other than this, my truck is FLAWLESS.
I paid $150 for Paintless Dent Repair, then colored in the paint damage with some touch-up paint I already had on hand. Even after this it still looks pretty crappy.
So, I leave mine unlocked, cause my dad said if anything else happens to it he'll buy me a new tailgate... heheh. Anybody want it? Just take it. I wish you would.

I did the 7 dollar power acutater mod and when I lock the doors it locks the tailgate and same with unlock. It is really nice when I want to load something and I have the keys in my hand, just double click the unlock on the remote and I am good to go!
Thanks F150! Next fun project is the PFM mod, but I think I will get them painted first!

Is that your driveway? Stop hoging all the snow and send some snow out to NY. I got a snowmobile sitting in the garage collecting dust right now.
The power tailgate lock takes some getting used to. I go to the dump a lot and can't count how many times I hopped out walked to the back only to realize the tailgate locked when the dorrs locked after putting it in drive. Walk back to the front, open door, unlock, walk back to rear. I've gotten used to it and now know to hit the unlock as I get out.

Works flawlessly now.
Always lock mine. I drive into the city (Buffalo) for school every day. I have a factory ARE hard tonneau cover which I also lock. I usually don't keep much, if anything in the rear, but I sometimes keep a tool tote bag with some of my tools in it (just in case) and have been known to keep my aluminum jack in there also (better then the hand crank junk under the seat). But even when that stuff is not in there, I would hate to come out from class one day (school is in just about the worst part of Buffalo) and find my tailgate missing. I hate crooks. I always worry that I am going to come out and find my window smashed and my books gone.
