Question Cold Weather Dash Whistle

Is anyone else hearing a faint whistle from your dash area when its butt freezing cold outside? I'm mean, below zero crap?

Last 5 days or so have been well below zero, and my baby has given me a few faint whistles from the dash area?

Anyone else hear something like this?

I'm so retarded...I work for a Ford dealership...I could prolly get it looked at, but I'm just not that picky anymore.

Still love this truck!

Josh from MN

Is the noise you guys are hearing from the inside of the cab? I notice that mine whines from the outside and I'm almost sure it's the alternator making the noise every once in a while. The noise only lasts about 3 seconds or so every time it does it.

Whistle

The whistle I hear is while driving, after letting it warm up quite a bit. The belt and drivetrain whine always happens when its 0 or less outside...that is no surprise.

This faint whistle sound comes from inside the cabin while driving, seems to not matter speed, rpm, or fan/temp speed or selection.

Its plain wierd.

It's that time again. And this is happening to me. I hate the cold. Anyone else have this problem? Or should I just bring it in and say 'fix it damn it'.

Stay Warm!

I have it too. Mine seems to be vacuum dependant, it goes away under acceleration or rpm increase and comes back at part throttle. I can vary the pitch and volume of the whine with careful manipulation of the throttle. I think that a trip to the dealer is in order, as it is driving me nuts. I hate squeaks, rattles and other spurious noises. My rear slider is the bane of my driving experience, that creaking POS!! I have to put silicone spray on the front suspension bushings about once a month to stop the creakies that the bushings make. I have that down to about 40 seconds per side. I love my FX4, but the noises drive me nuts.

BJ

I think I will have to get another cup-o-joe as thinking about this is pissing me off!!

Whoo-hoo I finally broke into the land of 150's, I am not a lurker any more. I guess that means pictures HUH?!

My 2005 does the same thing. I get up to around 70 and it whistles. Speed up or back off and it quits. I live in Iowa and it does at 10 degrees and colder.

My company 05' XLT does it too. It certainly seems to have correlation with the exterior temperature ...

I noticed some weird whistling/whining noises from my truck today when I started home from work....was 17 degrees out....the coldest I've ever started the truck cold before.....at night she's stored in a garage that rarely gets below freezing even in the coldest parts of winter time. It almost seemed like the whine was coming from inside the truck...kinda like it was in the dash, but I didn't give it a whole ton of thought since it was so dang cold, and the truck was making all other sorts of weird noises and I knew they were due to the cold. I know that by the time I was halfway home....fifteen minutes of driving....I didn't notice the noises anymore.
