I'm sorry.... I have defected....

It's with a somewhat somber heart that I post here tonight... I have been a loyal f150 owner for the past several years.... you have all been EXTREMELY helpful with your advice and suggestions.... Due to the fact that my faithful truck is gettting on in years and especially miliage I found myself shopping around for a new ride.... Today, on my way to the Ford dealership to test drive some trucks I stopped and drove a Nissan Titan.... Well, sorry to say, I was sold.... just to be fair I left and drove the new F150 and went back and bought the Nissan....

I know I will catch a load of s@#t around here but I feel obligated to tell you guys what a great truck this is.... I am very in tune with what I drive and have studied the specs and reviews A LOT before today.... Ford's new 300 hp engine is a step up from my current 260 hp but is not in the same league as the Nissan.... to me the main difference is the 5 spd auto that is on the Titan.... it's amazing, it shifts and drives in a higher league than the F150... the motor is a 32valve V8 with 305hp, 379tq.... better options and ammenities than the f150 and for several thousand less.... I know I am sure to catch a load of crap from die hard ford lovers and I deserve it.... but I just couldn't argue with the test drive..... I drove them each for about 10 miles on varying roads within about 2 hours of one another and the Nissan flat kicked the f150's butt.... I know this is a Ford board so I will stop here..... please do me one favor and don't dis-believe me until you have driven a Titan, or at least read several reviews..... thanks again for all the insight and I would buy a Ford again in an instant.... and probably will someday... it's just that this day it wasn't to be....

Looks like Ford has some catching up to do.

I. for one, appreciate your honest opinion.

Good Luck.

Hey nothing wrong with buying a Nissan if thats what you want. No matter what anyone says, they are not the ones making payments on it. I looked at one also even drove it to the Ford place to set them side by side and I just could not get past the in my opinion ugly front end of the Titan. Not to mention how it looked allot smaller beside the F150. Enjoy your truck and keeps us posted on how its doing for you.

enjoy your truck.

My buddy has a Nissan Titan with 14,000 miles. It is on it's 4th set of rotors and Nissan has no fix for it. They keep changing the rotors and pads but they only last 3-4 thousand miles. The tech told him on his last visit, "see you in 4 thousand miles".

He is in the process of getting it bought back. Good Luck.

No one will fault you for buying what you feel is the best for you. If we were all the same, life would be boring. I am sure the Titan is a nice rig but I couldn't get past the ugly front end regardless of some other advancements. My opinion is that Ford has toned the 5.4 3V down to appease the common "Joe (or Sally)" and possibily the government. If you add a Supertuner the engine runs better than the Titan, IMHO.

Anyway, good luck. Please visit this forum and keep us posted on your honest opinions of your ownership of the Nissan. It is a good thing to have different opinions to keep everyone informed.

Same here. It was UGLY as sin.

Plus I did go test drive one. I though to myself Im going to be totally unbias so I drove everything (short of the tundra).

When I was looking over the truck with the salesman, I went to open that little trick storage door on the side of the bed, and the SOB broke off in my hand.

I handed it to him and left the dealer.

If your happy, thats all that matters, I still think there ugly as sin though.

Good luck with your new truck, I've read a lot of good reviews about them but have never driven one.

There is certainly no arguing that Nissan's power plant has more get up and go than Ford's, they did a great job on that motor. I just thought the overall package, interior looks, exterior appereance, options, and a good dealership gave Ford the big edge. Plus I am a die hard Ford guy.

Again, good luck with it.

Good luck with the new truck.

Good luck with your new truck.

I went to the dealer. It looked ok except for the front end and the way the cab comes to an abrubt halt as it meets the bed.

But the reason I didnt buy/or even test drive was the door handles feel like cheap plastic. They had lots of play and felt flimsy.

I walked around and tried the door handles on lots of the trucks in the lot and some of the suv's and they all felt the same. It just freaked me out so I didnt look any further.

The Titans do get great reviews... Hope it works out for you...

Besides being ugly, I didn't consider the Titan for 3 reasons. First, they don't make a standard cab. I want my truck to haul stuff and not people. Second, there are very few Nissan dealers out in the sticks and nobody else will work on the Titan or has parts for them. If I'm far from home with my camper and break down, availability of a dealer and getting repairs done is a priority. Lastly, I can find accessories for my Ford at affordable prices and finding accessories for the Titan is difficult or impossible.

i test drove one before i got my 04 Lariat and it did feel like it had more pep than the ford...and the Dodge hemi did too..as for ride the f150 was far better than both...in the looks catagory there is no comparison the ford wins hands down..inside and out....IMO....i felt the F150 was a better built truck and for a few thousand more was well worth it since i was already spending 30k+.......i didnt base my decision on what truck i thought would win in a race i went for the BEST QUALITY OVERALL .......
