sorry for bringing back a dead post but has anyone bought an aftermarket L.E.D high mount stop lamp assembly? Please note that Hella makes the lamp for Ford so that company will not be an option for me. If the lens assembly made for Ford sucks how good can their other products be? this is not a Ford problem its a problem with the seals/lenses provided by Hella.

I dealt with this on my '06 a couple years ago. As soon as I saw the headliner getting wet near the CHMSL I went to Home Depot and picked up some weatherstrip. I think it was 5/16" thick but can't recall just now. I took out the CHMSL and replaced the crummy factory seal and the problem went away. Total spent was around $3 or $4. I'm planning to do it for my '08 as soon as the weather turns nice just so I don't have to deal with a leak at some later point.

Didn't make sense to me to take it to the dealer and give up my truck for a day and spend $35 for a rental when I could do the fix myself in 5 minutes for a few bucks.

Just wanted to chime in and share that.

so what are you guys going to do when the bulbs burn out? is the silicone or sealer going to be easy to remove? I was also curious about aftermarket L.E.D high mount stop lamps so I can seal it and forget it. thanks for your input.
