I guess but not sure how useful they might be. I'd go with an 05. Seems to be less issues for sure.

how does the 05 have less issues? its the exact same model! nothing changed what so ever between 04 and 05 unless you count the pre-wire for the dvd player that you can now get The same issue will happen with the 05. Some will be good some will be bad. Just luck of the draw

Maybe it's because there's less 05's out there. So far I've not seen any viber's screamy like us about their 05's. How do you know absolutely nothing has changed? I doubt Ford advertises every little change but I could be wrong.

how does the 05 have less issues?

Because they will change small minor things at 2004.5 build date and 2005 build date. They will change how they assemble things, different matterials etc.... And no the trucks are not exactly the same, even the same years (.5 year trucks)

Exactly. Just like 04's built before July 2004 have a different U-Joint for the DS according to Ford's latest TSB, they changed some component in the steering in early 04 production as well, can't remember which TSb that was in.

The center (carrier) bearing on the 2 piece driveshaft is different as of 7/04. That's one of the things in the TSB too.

BTW, the frame mounted vibration damper appears to be only for solving road surface induced harmonic vibration of the frame. Never was meant to solve the issues due to driveline problems, at least that's what I infer from what I read in 04-25-8.

If the price is right, take it for the weekend if they will let you or for a few hours. If it drives well, I'd take it and enjoy it

I've been lurking this site after about 2 weeks in my new truck, thinking I was nuts for feeling what I was feeling. Turns out I'm a member of the vibe tribe too. When towing the 4k+ lbs that I tow, the vibration is horrendous. It's there the rest of the time too, but it's at a level to not tick me off all the time - I can tune it out if I want to, but I shouldn't have to.

I've been patiently waiting for a fix or new TSBs, and I'm grateful these new tsbs are out. The TSBs list several interesting possible fixes depending on the symptoms:

- A new carrier (center) bearing (new one is "symmetric") for trucks with a 2 piece driveshaft

- Repair of the U-Joint (or replace the driveshaft)

- Driveshaft runout

- Driveshaft imbalance

- Axle gearset pitch line runout (only for trucks that vibrate during accel/decel)

- Transmission imbalance/runout (vibe changes in/out of overdrive)

The one thing that did cheese me off a bit was that somewhere in one of the TSBs, it said that using a hose clamp on the driveshaft to bring it into balance was an acceptable fix. Talk about a "duct tape and bailing wire" solution!

Find the other forum and download the TSB's they are very enlightening!

Doug
So basically NO FIX! Ford.

None of the TSB's mention anything about a "hose clamp". I'd like to see that printed in a TSB

Bahaha I was wrong. Page 3 of the 04-25-8 TSB says this in the flow chart.

"....Rebalance shaft at driveshaft repair shop or in vehicle with hose clamp method in Workshop Manual Section 205-000"

WTF? Maybe as a method to say, yep the DS is not balanced then really fix it properly. I'd love to see my truck come back with a hose clamp on the DS.

Kansas City IS the truck plant. They are all assembled there. Many parts from other countries but assmebly in the USA just like Toyota.

All of them are assembled in K.C. EXCEPT the ones that are built in Dearborn and Norfolk (where you live) and mine was built.

Where do you get your information from?

I'm sure things changed. Happens in many productions plants if issues come up. From what I've seen in these forums, things changed for the better. Search the forums for chats about 05's, this thread is about the TSB regarding the vibing 04's though.
