Well it's not a huge deal at all but it really pisses me off. I scratched my lens on the climate control. It's on my 05 Lariat SCrew. It has the auto climate control unit. Anyway is there any chance that I can go to the dealer and purchase just the lens or have them order it or is it totally fused to the whole unit and thus requiring me to spend countless hundreds of dollars to get a whole new one. Yes I could live with it but I scratched it after just 4 days and it bugs me to no end just knowing it's there.
Anyone have any ideas. I know it won't buff out that's for sure and I doubt there is any product on the market that would help it disappear. So give me some ideas, thanks.

Don't know how deep and large the scratch, but there are products that will remove some scratches.
I have this 3M stuff, but I didn't buy it from this site:

Also there are some competitors out there so do a Search online. My experience with this stuff has been mixed. If it's not very deep its worth a try.

Im almost sure you have to replace the temp control unit.... I would go to the dealer and tell them you didnt notice it upon delivery and see if they can cover it under warranty... Be cool, and they will take care of you..... And your a survey customer, so you should get treated like gold on your first warranty repair.... get it there asap though....
You **MAY** be able to remove it.
Can you post a picture or two of the damage? There are several good 'plastic polishes' on the market that may be able to remove it. If it's deep, you're on your own but, if it's slight, I'm 99.9% sure you could get the best of it.
Let me know and I'll recommend a few products if it looks 'doable'.

It was rubbed by another piece of plastic. the damaged area is about 1/16" tall and about 3/4"-1" in length centered top to bottom and on the right side of the lens. Almost like a very fine sand paper was run across it. Not deep at all really but not a fine line either.
I might give the warranty idea a shot. I feel like an *** hat going in there and complaining especially knowing that it was because of my own stupidity.

Dude... I know it's hard, but try to chalk it up as a defining characteristic. Of course, you can always replace it. I feel for you brother. I understand that you are not quite readt to accept nicks and scratches on your baby. Good luck!
Interesting anecdote and true story:
Years back a buddy of mine was dating the daughter of a guy that owned a Bail Bond company.
He was a big old country boy, and every year he would buy a brand new Lincoln.
The first year Kevin was dating the daughter, he was at her parents house when the old boy came home with his new black Towne Car. Like 10 miles on it.
Kevin went out to look at it, and as they were standing there, the old boy took out the keys, put the key against the drivers front fender and walked all the way down the car.
He went to the other side and did the exact same thing.
Kevin was just standing there staring at him in disbelief, when the old boy looked at him and said "There, nobody will _uck with it now".
True story.
So, your little scratch on the climate control that you are probably the only one that would even notice is subjective to your ability to ignore it.
Or something like that.

I've taken much worse scratches out of plexiglass and motorcycle windscreens.
