Autospring ordered, Now it's Tire decision Time
Ordered the Autospring 2" kit from ebay yesterday....$115 delivered. Now I need to make a decision regarding tires. I am keeping my stock 18" wheels. I want to go bigger than my stock tires. Right now I'm leaning towards the BFG Mud Terrains 35-1250R-18/D2 or the Nitto Terra Grappler AT LT325/60R18D2.
Nitto also offers the Terra Grappler in an LT325/65R18D2. What is the difference in the two Nitto's? Is the 65 just taller? The 65 is also more expensive, FYI. :help: |
Ahh the wheel and tire choice delima. Check out my thread about polished wheels, I just bumped it back up to the top. If you're gonna run Nitto 325/65's on the factory 18" wheel you'll need wheel spacers. Search for a guy named PORKCHOP, as he had this same set up for a while. The 325/65 is a ~35" tire, not to familar with your other choice. But I think a lot of the guys around here are running Nitto's and I haven't read any complaints about them yet.
I had my 2" autospring installed over a week ago and my truck has set in the driveway ever since because I'm waiting until I get new wheels and tires to have my front end aligned, no need in paying twice! |
325/65-18's are basically 35" tires and the OEM wheels are gone. I still have pics of them in my gallery though, just clig my sig.

Don't know about the OEM w/ 325/60-18. You will need at least 1/4" for the 325/65-18 & OEM along w/ a 2" front leveler. Didn't feel comfortable w/ the spacers which is why I went with the MB Blitz.

The 325/60-18's are approximately a 34x13.50-18. The 325/65-18's are approximately a 35x13.50-18.

They (325's) are a little too wide for your stock 7.5 inch wheels. Other people are running that combo but it's too early to tell if they will have any wear problems. I don't think you would have any problems with a 12.50 inch wide tire. I've talked to several people running that combo for several thousand miles without any problems at all.

Why not 295/70/17?? you ll need 17" rims..
That size is 33.19 tall and 12.10 (?) width. YOMAN! |
Wandell....Thanks for the info.
Yoman....I prefer to stick with the OEM wheels (18s) that I have now. |

I just got done installing egale alloy 178's and grappler 325/ 60/18. I also installed autospring 2" with painted to match bushwacker flares...Tires are 33"x 12 7/8"... No rubbing at all.

Hey PorkChop,
Where did you get those wheels? I did a search for those and couldn't find them. Those are the nicest wheels I have seen on these trucks to date. I am also interested in placing 35's (325's) on my truck and love your set up. Can you give me specs on the wheels and tires, please. Thanx, YellowFX4SCrew rikkitikkitavi@charter.net |
