5800+ pound truck???

I went to the dump today and they weight your truck when you go in (with stuff) and on the way out (empty)

On my way out, I asked the lady to tell my what the scale read and it read 5800 pounds. I was like WTF?

I have a FX4 Crewcab. Is this correct for others?

Uhhhh... what rock have you been living under? Read any article about the truck, look at your door jamb, read a post, etc...

The 4x4 screws loaded with goodies are nearly 3-tons w/o people or gear.

Seriously?! My sarcasm detector is on the fritz today... I can't tell if you really don't know about a little thing called payload or not? I need a vacation... or get new batteries for this thing.

They lie about everything!
My tires say 35 lbs.
I picked up my spare and I know damn well it weighed at least 70 lbs.

is that why our trucks are so slow.....

I know the trucks are close to 5000 pds. from reading the forums, but ~5800?

JTFORD 11-24-2004 02:10 PM

Mine is built with "quite" steel, yours must be "heavy" steel!:D

My truck's "shipping weight" from the factory was 5396 pounds (can be found on the invoice). It doesn't take much at all to get these things up over 6000 lbs.
I'm sure mine is around there, with line-x, Ford bed mat, Retrax, loaded tool box, and a 270 lb. driver....

Yup. I had mine on the scales last month and she weighed 5780 lbs. empty and without me in it.

Throw in a FULL 35.7 gallon fuel tank and you've upped it even more!

VERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY good point. Let's just say it's 8 pounds per gallon....

That, alone, is around 280 pounds.

Not really a good point. Screws like his can't hold 35 gallons. That's for regulars and scabs... it's more like 240 lbs, max.
