Chrome Lariat Bumpers For Black Fx4 Bumpers

I would like to trade my chrome bumpers off my Lariat Screw for black ones off of a FX4. I asume everything would be a straight swap...right? I haven't ever seen this asked about by either side...would any FX4 people even consider such a trade? I am betting my best bet will be a set off ebay somewhere down the road but I would be willing to trade. I really dont want to paint my chrome bumpers...that never seems to last.

The way i see it is chrome is always better than painted, it looks good on black and it doesnt chip like a black bumper can.

chrome!

Speaking as an FX4 owner, the color matched bumpers were one of the reasons I picked the FX4. I'm not a fan of chrome and I suspect other FX4 owners feel the same. I be surprised if you found someone that wanted to trade but you never know.

Yeah I couldnt believe you couldnt get a 2wd Lariat with color match (not Arizona Beige) bumpers. I liked the painted bumpers way better but didn't want 4wd (I have a 03 Jeep and I wanted this to be a street truck). Oh well, I am sure I will run across a pair somewhere and if not I can live with the chrome ones.

One replied in my dechroming thread saying that he has painted and wanted chrome ones... No years or colors were mentioned, but....

You think it would be possible at all for the dealer to switch out the chrome bumper for a painted bumper for a price?

I'm willing to bet the dealers would merely sell you the new bumpers (marked up $-wise, of course) and keep your stocks. I don't see them giving you any refund or compensation for them. At that point, you might as well buy your own. Torrie AT FordPartsNetwork.com should be able to quote them. That, or the link below might be of use.

I would be interested to know how the Linex for bumpers and rocker panels holds up. I think thats a great offroad look and protection. I know Skidz from FTW has it done. Anyone know about cost? wear? etc?

I have thought about doing it as well. I just want to see it in person to decide if I really like how it looks.

I had the rockers and flares done on my last truck and it held up great. It quieted down rocks hitting the rockers when going down a gravel road. Line X quoted me a price of around $1200 for bed, rockers, flares, steps, and bumpers in black. Color was a lot more.... almost double.

Ditto on one of the reasons I chose the STX. Painted bumpers look nicer IMO. To each his own.

This one is almost a yr old so I thought I'd bring it back...

Does anyone know for sure that 04-05 FX/STX/XLT bumpers are interchangeable? Front and rears? My guess is they should be with no problem.

FX4&EXCURSION, I know you're busy with other dismantling work but let me know if still plan on doing the 06 bumper. I think I found a source for a black rear bumper. He may have the front as well but hasn't called back yet.
