This is what my 4 x 2 Lariat was getting on the last road trip I went on. It was mostly on level ground with a few hills.

City -- 14MPG
Rual 60MPH -- 19MPG
Hwy 78 MPH -- 17.5MPG

I am happy with the mileage on my 04 XLT 4X4 5.4 with 3.73 regular cab. 800 miles at 70MPH with a slight tailwind one way and a strong headwind he other, I got 18.1 with 400 miles on it at the start of the trip. At 1,200 miles, I get 15 MPG overall. Better than I expected and very close to the window sticker. I expect about 1 MPH when it gets broken in and the wind isn't blowing so hard.

Newer 2004 4X4 5.4 3.55 SCAB 1100 miles to date
Solid 16 all around driving. Have yet to do a HW only trip. My trade in. 91 Dodge Ram diesel, was 23 in all around driving. Although, It was a good sacrifice to get my hearing back.

I just did my first top off on my 4x4 XLT S'cab 3.55 LS - 15.2 mpg. Speeds all over the place from 30 mph in town to a top of maybe 75 mph on the freeway. I figured I put about $8.00 more in than I would have in my p.o.s. economy car I used to drive, but I'm saving about $300 every six months in insurance, so I really don't see a whole lot of overall cost difference!

My mileage has gone down since I installed mods, especially the exhaust! I just have to keep it in that "sweet" spot!

I feel your pain, my 04 Scab 4x4 5.4 is getting 320-340 a tank and I drive mostly highway - my previous 03 Silverado with the small 8 would average almost 18 and I could knock on 20 on the highway

I get 13 all city driving, 15 mixed (50/50, 60/40 city/highway) and 16-17 almost all highway. Better than the 11 city, 14 highway I was getting with my old 95 Sierra.

I've got nearly 9k miles on my '04 5.4L 4x4 Lariat SC w/ 3.73 and I have averaged 13.6 mpg overall. Admittedly 66% of those miles are stop and go, but I have NEVER averaged 18 mpg or anything even close to that!
I don't care, though. I have the sweetest looking truck on the road!

can't hurt, that mpg should be higher unless you drive it like an Indy car.
