was wondering about the installation of the carraige works full replacement grill on the fx4 bar style grill, is there cutting involved, or does the whole center piece just get removed.

No cutting involved. You just removed the center 6 bar part of the grill. Have to bend all of the clips, which can be a little troublesome.
