Bolt size in oil pan.

Im sorry for asking this, but, what is the size of the bolt that is in the oil pan? I am planning on changing my oil and I need to know this so that I can buy tools! lol. Anyone's help is greatly appreciated.

Is this correct...I thought our trucks used Metric?

They mainly do, but some sae and metric are crossover.

I think it is technically a metric size, but I use a 5/8" socket, and that works just fine.

13mm

It's a 13mm bolt on the pan of my 2004 f150 5.4L

15 years later - I hope the original poster was able to remove the oil pan bolt.

Really doesn't make that much difference, a crescent wrench will do the job, If it's too tight to get loose with a crescent, the last guy overtorqued it.

It makes me wonder if the original poster was going to buy 1 wrench. Whereas other people would have bought a socket set, with different sizes and a ratchet handle. This being the first tool he buys, I wonder if he bought Snap-On or Harbor Freight.
